I will now listen to this.
| |
this rules
| |
They are still churning out genericore I see. They are effective template songwriters, and they certainly have a commitment to their template though.
| |
catchy. nothing special but not that bad
| |
They stole AILD's guitar tone hmmmm
| |
Oh my god, not only is the song unexpectedly good, but Adam D can mix metalcore like a god. Such a
clean and well produced sound. I am really ready for this album now.
I hope there are a couple songs with AOJB-level choruses. Something with more heart, if you know what
I mean. This song is great, but the chorus is standard and not really helping the song.
| |
better than i was expecting
| |
Would be good if they had Howard still
| |
Pretty strong for a single, expecting more with the album.
| |
it sounds just like their first 2 albums but cleaner
| |
Awesome, good song.
| |
Howard had to call it quits because of his diabeetus and longing for his family.
| |
Holy shit i passed out for having a seisure of AVERAGE.
| |
Jesse is good but Howard just has a more distinct/powerful voice to me. I mean hes black.
| |
Adam D producers AILD guitar tone, so I doubt they "stole" it.
| |
"I will now listen to this."
Yet you listen to Carnifex...not enough breakdowns for you?
| |
The harsh vox sound like 36 crazyfists. ehh catchy song, though. Hopefully the album is decent.
| |
Jesse is Jesse, Howard is Howard. Anyway, the song is pretty meh. Hope they dont go all Second self titled over this album
| |
¯_(ツ)_/¯
| |
The Moreira proving again he has awful taste in music.
| |
Jesse's vox sounded magnitudes better a decade ago.
| |
Better than I expected but ill still remain cautiously optimistic
| |
"Yet you listen to Carnifex...not enough breakdowns for you?"
That doesn't even make sense haha
| |
"The Moreira proving again he has awful taste in music."
Yep
| |
It means all you listen to is breakdown infested bullshit
| |
Every time i like something, its shit. Everytime i dont like something, there's something wrong with my taste.
#moreiraonsputnik
| |
I'll kill myself now because your taste is different than mine =(
| |
Please do thank you
| |
I have always felt Killswitch does what they do with a little more passion than their peers, even though they aren't necessarily unique in their execution.
| |
Viral, shut up.
| |
=(
| |
Yeah.. Since As Daylight Dies they pretty much narrowed it down to effortless chugs and choruses though.
| |
Not bad. Better than anything off KsE II
| |
I like it.
| |
As Daylight Dies has some badass riffs though. This Is Absolution and My Curse are two of their best
tracks ever.
| |
Daylight Dies is a perfectly fine record.
| |
It's good, not amazing but definitely better than I was expecting. I am now slightly looking forward to this.
| |
Oh sorry, i didn't make myself clear. I loved ADD, what came next though, was pretty yawning.
This song is catchy and all, but feels a bit too much like they're going the same way they went on their last album..
| |
I don't see any similarities to their last one at all. Definitely agree with you on ADD though.
| |
For me, their most recent album isn't that bad. I think it has a few really good songs, but they
aren't as "groovy" as the older Killswitch songs, and a bit more catchy.
This new song sounds pretty unique compared to any of their past songs. I won't let it define the
album as it is only one song, but I am excited now.
| |
Lets see how it turns out..
| |
get out of this thread. u dont even Ellen
| |
song is ok. Band lost its spark sometime ago.
| |
This song made me the happiest girl on the planet. Seriously fucking stoked for this album
| |
Better than expected.
| |
ehhh....
| |
... 36 Crazyfists?
| |
Howard wasn't that bad, he was bland only on
Killswitch Engage II
| |
He wasn't the best but I enjoyed a part of his material, never liked the cover of holy diver.
| |
Jesse sounds a bit too much like Speed with his harsh vocals now but this song is still quite entertaining
| |
I thought you enjoyed the Jesse's work with this band andcas.
| |
boring.
| |
I understand, album will be between 3 and 3,5 at best.
| |
If this came out 10 years ago it would be the shit.
| |
So its better than KSEII, but bears an extreme resemblance at first to ADD. The only difference that was 7 years ago, and I was hoping to actually hear some kind of progression of any form. That being said it was pretty whatevs.
| |
It's good
| |
Really boring song. Ill still listen to the album though.
| |
This slays.
| |
I dug it.
| |
I can see this being a 3.5
| |
seriously? these guys are BACK making great music? (2)
Amen brother
| |
Andcas, I read your comment as "mediocore" instead of "mediocre."
| |
Yeah this is great, people saying its bad just like to hate
| |
The chorus gives them that reason, but I accept the average chorus when the song as a whole is pretty
cool. I still expect more passionate and inspiring choruses in the other songs, knowing what
Killswitch is capable of. Listen to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w3fqr-K9Fk.
| |
Pretty solid. I'll def. be checking into the new album. Welcome back, Jesse.
| |
Awesome stuff. Jesse > Howard.
| |
Pretty solid. I'll def. be checking into the new album. Welcome back, Jesse.
| |
MAKEMEBAD35 IS THAT REALLY YOU? Dude I swear if that is you I would shit my pants.
| |
Really good single, definitely better than Times of Grace, which was pretty standard hard rock fare. It benefits from that classic KSE feeling.
| |
don't think this album will touch AOJB, but this is better than the last few KSE records
| |
yeah so this band sounds exactly the same as they did in 2002. not in a good way.
| |
"MAKEMEBAD35 IS THAT REALLY YOU? Dude I swear if that is you I would shit my pants."
lol, yes sir.
| |
Very good song. The chorus was definitely underwhelming, but I really like Jesse's vox and I'm sure they'll be better choruses on the album.
| |
Damian I love your videos! You are so hilarious and I understand the way you think when you do your
pranks. I bought the Pranktour episode and am looking forward to it!
Have you listened to Between the Buried and Me's new album yet?
| |
I actually enjoyed a big part of As Daylight Dies.
| |
Yesssss a new unearth single
| |
Not bad
| |
I expected this to suck....but I really liked it.
| |
This band is now a Soilwork cover group.
| |
"They are still churning out genericore I see. They are effective template songwriters, and they certainly have a commitment to their template though. "
[2]
| |
Not gonna lie, the opening riff grooves like a mutha. But the chorus is weak.
| |
sounds like killswitch
| |
Awesome song.
| |
best i've heard from them in years
| |
ADD was my jam back when it came out!
| |
I don't think they can really pull off something truly well-rounded or above average unless they significantly evolve their style. There's only so much you can do with the metalcore sound, and even though they did it really well for a few albums, it just needs to change or die.
| |
garbage band, defs not gonna check this
| |
The problem for me is in prime Killswitch the verses are dark and heavy and then the chorus's get melodic on a dime. That's what made it so good. These days even the verses always have a melodic twang to them. This song's not bad tho.
| |
you fucking serious? I submitted this as a story last night and it was promptly deleted. Had about 100 views before it was too....
anyway, good song. I'm hopeful.
| |
OH NO 100 VIEWS WILL YOU SURVIVE!!??
| |
i wanted to like it
| |
This rules, I'm so glad Jesse is back those vocals rule
| |
Pretty sweet
| |
Decent song. I put it on and started to talk to a friend, but it ended and I completely forgot it was even on. A little forgettable and didn't grab my attention.
| |
I always liked My Curse back in the day. That was it though, never liked the rest of their material. Same still applies. But I am really picky.
| |
I'm kind of indifferent towards the chorus, but the rest of the song is sweet.
| |
The opening riff is nice, but the song sounds as if it may have been written for Howard more than Jesse...or "bland choruses" have just become synonymous with Howard, for me. In either case, this is super average.
| |
So fucking stoked that they're returning to the AOJB sound. Gonna be rocking to this and AOJB for a while now.
| |
That was very average.
Was never too big on these guys, so meh. Chorus was really bland.
| |
It's not bad but the atmosphere is so thin and the general construction (main riff especially) are ridiculously generic.
| |
that was fine. it just sounded like any other decent enough late KI song.
| |
I miss Howard. /sadface
| |
Talk about an average chorus. One of the reasons I love AOJB is because Jesse totally nailed pretty much every chorus. The two new songs have had very underwhelming ones. Song is alright, I was really pumped for this album initially but I'm losing faith that it will be anything close to special.
| |
If I wasn't told Jesse was back in the band, I honestly never would have known. Most of the vocals sound just like Howards.
| |
Also agreeing with the Speed/Soilwork comparison.
| |
Decent.
| |
I think it'll grow on me.
| |
Great song, I have high hopes for this album based on the two songs released already.
| |
#tybg
| |
haven't I heard this song 80.000 times before already?
| |
This is dope
| |
Hmm, decent
And yeah, TheMoreira doesn't have the best taste going, but each to their own.
| |
lame
| |
Hi KILL, not seen you on here for a while
| |
They're doing it somewhat right again. Still too early to tell, but sounds better than anything off KSEII.
| |
They're doing it somewhat right again. Still too early to tell, but sounds better than anything off KSEII.
| |
Not digging this one, pretty weak, preferred No End In Sight.
| |
120+ comments?
Since when does Sputnik gives a shit about this band that much?
| |
i've never really been into Killswitch, but if they got rid of the clean chorus, this wouldn't actually be that bad, imo Howard does better highs but that about it really Jesse seems better overall
| |
sounds the exact same as 'Alive or Just Breathing' and for that reason, and predominately that reason alone I can't appreciate it. Its been how many years and the act together with jesse hasn't progressed/varied/diversified in anyway? lol
| |
Not bad at all. Catchy as always
| |
Sounds pretty cool
| |
Really liked this. So excited for this album now.
| |
It's like they created a time machine and went back to 2002. Which, in music, is often a bad thing.
| |
Why does progression ALWAYS matter? Killswitch has always been super consistent (minus KSE II) and that is something that always brings me back to them. Plus, they were my gateway metal band
| |
Not bad not bad. it has some cool riffs and shit. soooo much better than KSEII
| |
liked it.
| |
Digging it more now, Jesse sounds better than ever surprisingly.
| |
Digging it more now [2]
Song is catchy as fuck; had it on repeat most of the day.
| |
Damn that chorus is catchy as fuck!
Hyped for KsE as always.
| |
Good song, Jesse is sounding great. Not sure whether I like his cleaner sounding screams on this or his older style better hmm
| |
lol all i heard is a boring, generic "catchy chorus" metalcore song. I see Killswitch still hasn't changed.
| |
This grew on me overnight. The chorus is likable enough.
| |
Jesse has become the better vocalist. This is pretty good.
What's with the "Disarm the Descent" thing up there? Album title?
EDIT: Guess I should read articles before I post silly questions.
| |
Eh. It's pretty good. Not digging the vocal tone in the chorus.
| |
poopy poop poop
| |
song's not amazing but it's good and sounds better than their last album.
| |
maybe this will be as good as 'As Daylight Dies'
| |
Maybe!!!!
| |
Read the comments and you'll get aids.
| |
ew this is gross
| |
"Disarm The Descent" was mixed by veteran British producer Andy Sneap, who has previously worked with
MEGADETH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, ACCEPT, ARCH ENEMY and NEVERMORE."
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=185615
Andy Sneap is great! He is good with balance and sound stage. Interesting that Adam D didn't do all of
the sound production. Andy did work on Alive or Just Breathing and the End of Heartache, so it makes
sense.
| |
Ya the production is awesome as always but the best its been. The guitar tone is sooooooooo tick like a sassy african lady.
| |
finally listened to this
I like it, it's incredibly generic and sounds like anything else they've done, but it's catchy enough
and Jesse > Howard when it comes to screaming(Howard's better for highs though)
| |
THE MOREIRA sucks
| |
^ best comment.
| |
-.-'
| |
"Since when does Sputnik gives a shit about this band that much?"
Last album was crap and Jesse is back it makes sense for people to be curious if they improved
| |
The new album will be much better than their last two thats for sure
| |
"
Last album was crap and Jesse is back it makes sense for people to be curious if they improved "
yeah i'm actually curios on how will this turn out
never been too big on the band but i do like AOJB so since jesse and this song ain't bad i'll check it out
I predict something like 3.5 for me
| |
Song rules. So much passion pours out of this music. This is what elevates it out of its genericore status.
| |
Damn. That's a lot of comments.
| |
@Michichachi, lol cheers, seu carinha de cu.
| |
not to bad but a improvement over his previous vocal work..
| |
Chorus reminds me of something that would be on Scar Symmetry's album Dark Matter Dimensions.................................strange.
| |
I loved and miss Howard due to his distinct vocals, but you gotta love Jesse coming back especially when they make something that sounds much better than expected. His vocals are different than before and they almost sound like a different band to me. I'm definitely excited to hear the rest.
| |
About a month until the album drops!
