Depeche Mode album details 2013-01-24 by Raul Stanciu STAFF | 18 Comments | Depeche Mode have revealed the title of their upcoming album, due out on March 26. The highly anticipated Delta Machine has 13 brand new tracks, with the first single and its official video, entitled "Heaven", scheduled to premiere next Friday, February 1 on VEVO (alongside its official video).
There will also be a Deluxe edition consisting of 4 new tracks and a 28-page hardcover book that includes photos from longtime collaborator Anton Corbijn.
Martin Gore said regarding Delta Machine that “Writing this album was incredibly daunting as I wanted the sound of this collection to be very modern. I want people to feel good about listening to this record, to get some kind of peace. It’s just got something magical about it.”
Also, Dave Gahan added “With this release we’ve completely shifted our idea of how to create an album. When we hit a wall where we realize the album is beginning to sound too normal, we’ll mess it up and really give it that organic Depeche Mode Sound. Delta Machine is no different, and I can’t wait for all of our fans to hear it.”
Here is the tracklist of the record:
1 - Welcome To My World
2 - Angel
3 - Heaven
4 - Secret To The End
5 - My Little Universe
6 - Slow
7 - Broken
8 - The Child Inside
9 - Soft Touch / Raw Nerve
10 - Should Be Higher
11 - Alone
12 - Soothe My Soul
13 - Goodbye
Disc 2 - Deluxe Edition
1 - Long Time Lie
2 - Happens All The Time
3 - Always
4 - All That’s Mine

'Heaven's good. Probably not the best on the album, natch, but it makes sense as a single.
Loving the art for this one; the song titles are a bit predictably Depeche, but I don't care, just stoked to hear some new stuff.
| | | Cool, I guess. I'll probably check it out eventually.

*hasn't listened to anything post-Exciter, doesn't know how to feel*
| | | I want to be excited... But I've been burned before.
| | | I doubt if I am gonna bother with this one, still can't get over that Playing The Angel album.
| | | Kinda looking forward to this.
| | | This should be great. They're dropping solid records.
| | | I'll give it a try.

| | | FAVOURITE BAND OF ALL TIME RIGHT HERE. This news is unexpected yet highly welcomed.
The bit about the album being "modern" kind of makes me nervous though. It's as if all the tracks are going to be club anthems...
| | | Nah bloc, they'll just have some dubstep elements and favor trap-esque 808's.
Gotta keep with the times!
| | | The 'modern' remark is just a throwback to fan reaction to all the vintage synths used on SOTU; it was a bit overdone. Don't worry bloc, DM don't have it in them for shite like that!
'Heaven' has a really cool feel to it - electronic, but not quite retro, yet still quintessentially Depeche. Can't wait for the full album

Gaaaah, stop!
Okay, I just listened to Heaven and it does seem to continue with the sound that was on SOTU. Lots of sharp synths, lots of distortion, and relatively high tempo. I'm thinking the new album will be a grower.
At least I hope so.
| | | Not sure what to expect, I love a big part of depeche mode discography but their last album was really bland.
| | | Not too excited at the moment, but I haven't heard anything other than the unfinished version of Angel from the press conference. I'm not too sure about the artwork either. I kinda dig the picture, but the signs seem to be a bit too much. I wished Anton would have used the new DM-logo just once.
| | | Actually preferring the B-side "All That's Mine" so far. Heaven's a lovely track, but 1st single? Maybe it'll take more time to sink in...
| | | ^Just downloaded the Heaven single and it comes with that track. Fingers are crossed.
| | | Heaven: good album track, not a single.
Kinda liking the apparent new direction. It sounds a lot more organic than SOTU.
| | | Well, they've just performed a few new tracks on Letterman:

'Should Be Higher' is the second song, fantastic live!
'Soft Touch/Raw Nerve' and 'Soothe My Soul' need to sink in a bit, especially the latter (doesn't sound DM at all), but they translated quite well live, I think.
Mostly amazed that they did 'Barrel of a Gun' - finally, after 15 years, it's back in the setlist! Raw version, but Dave will hopefully deliver once her gets warmed up on the tour.
