Chicago based power/prog metal act Ion Vein have recently (10/12/2012) put out two three-song singles, named IV v1.0 and IV v2.0 via iTunes. This is the band's first recorded material since their 2003 album Reigning Memories.
The band has signed a contract with Chicago-based label Mortal Music which realizes a rather innovative marketing model. Instead of releasing a full length album at once, the material is being released at separate digital releases, in order to alleviate the musical overload fans and press alike are experiencing these days with so many full length releases out there. Upon their conclusion, the full length album will then be available in physical format for those still interested in purchasing the full package.
Tbh that's not really innovative at all (well idk, this might be something new in metal circles). Black Jazz Consortium is doing the exact same thing at the moment
Digging: Logos - Cold Mission
As you said, it is new for metal.
Oh and I see the title of the new item has been "butchered" haha, probably for the best.
Yeah. There was nothing wrong with the title, but when you've only get x amount of characters available you might as well make it as broad and as simple as possible, and just use the article itself to explain what you need to
Even fucking My Chemical Romance is doing this...
