Light Bearer Release Teaser

Post metal band Light Bearer have released a teaser for their sophomore effort, Silver Tongue, the second entry in a planned trilogy of records following last years release, Lapsus. The band is expected to enter the studio in January to begin the recording process. The track listing is as follows:
1. Beautiful is This Burden; the Catalyst
2. Amalgam; Construction of the Tower of Dis
3. Clarus; Lucifer’s Sermon
4. Matriarch; the First Eve
5. Aggressor and Usurper
6. Silver Tongue; Songs of Prophecy

Hopefully they shorten their songs a little bit this time around. The songs off the first album were great but after listening to a twenty minute song with almost no vocals I forget if I'm listening to Light Bearer or GYBE

Lapsus was there for a while until the charts froze and everyone was like "2011...sort by...metal...holy crap 4.4? gotta 2 this to bring it back to earth!"

...Maybe because they didn't think it was that good. I liked it and it holds at a solid 3.5 for me, but I can understand why some wouldn't enjoy it as much.

I find it impossible, literally, that anyone could find Lapsus poor [2]. Even if you don't like the genre, you can respect the skill and effort poured into it.

Not really. People rate albums based on how much they enjoy them: not based on how much effort the musicians put into them.

I'm not saying a ton of effort should deserve a high rating, but I don't like Godspeed and think Lift Yr Skinny Fists is boring overrated shit, but I can tell that it is well crafted and for that, I would never give it a poor score. If I don't enjoy an album then it's likely a 2.5. If I am offended by how bad the album is, then it's lower.

Well, the only response is that everyone has a different ratings criteria. I totally understand your points, but I don't think it's right to show incredulity over a different way of thinking.

I think it's ridiculous for someone to rate an album purposely lower than what you believe it be just because you think it's "overrated" and that's why people who think "WOAH, 4.4. RATING?! BETTER 1 THIS RIGHT NOW" are complete idiots. It's immature and annoying. I hate the word overrated because nothing is overrated. It's simply a matter of how much people enjoy something. You liking it less than hundreds, thousands or millions of others will never make it overrated.

But what if people legitimately think it's a 2? I mean, I totally agree with everything you just said, but there are always people who really don't like an album and they have every right to give it the rating that they feel it deserves.

if they have legit reasons then that's fine. I gave Swans a 3 because I had several legit gripes (that I detailed in my review).
