The Hobbit Soundtrack Stream 2012-12-03 by TMobotron | 79 Replies | 3164 Views |
The first instalment of highly anticipated The Hobbit trilogy, An Unexpected Journey, is opening in theaters on December 14th. The soundtrack is set for release on December 11th, but Rolling Stone has an exclusive early stream. The soundtrack was composed mostly by Howard Shore, the man behind the three soundtracks in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. An Unexpected Journey's soundtrack, staying true to the series, is filled with grandiose epics that have come to define middle-earth. Also noteworthy is the use of the dwarves' chill-inducing, ominous group singing that was seen in the early trailers for the movie. Stream the soundtrack here:

"I just want it to come out already."
Yeah it's so fucking close now though that I'm almost content. I think it will be a great movie. Not sure how it will measure up to the original 3, especially since they split 1 book into 3 movies. In some ways I'm okay with that because the more LOTR movies I get from peter jackson the better, but that does seem like a bit of a stretch.
I've always fucking loved The Hobbit though, that book is great and I think it will be great as a movie too.

My brother has a couple friends that work for AMC that are getting him into an advanced screening and I'm hoping they can snag me a ticket to. If not I'll totally be there at the midnight screening. Pretty damn excited for this one.
|
| |
*An Unexpected Journey, not The. And movie looks fucking amazing, can't wait. Comes out 12 days later here in Australia though, which is annoying.

"An Unexpected Journey, not The."
You're right my bad, I edited the news article.
|
| |
i'd like to see some of the silmarillion made into movies as well, especially the part with the war of wrath (that would be a seriously fucking epic battle)
|
| |
It's kind of a weird book to try to make into a movie though. I mean they could do something with it (and there's a good chance they will for the money), but still, it would be interesting to see how they would do it.
|
| |
lotr trilogy was fantastic soundtrack wise, hopefully howard shore has kept it up
|
| |
Listening to it right now, it's magnificent
|
| |
yeah i havent even seen return of the king lol, but i'm pretty psyched to see this movie.

Misty mountains is the most badass thing ever.
|

LotR movies really haven't stood the test of time in my eyes, so i doubt I'll find his movie (or the next TWO wtf) that amazing
|
| |
the track record of prequels being not shit is pretty bad.
|
| |
^ cool.
|
| |
name me one stellar prequel from a successful series.
|
| |
I meant that for Captain North lol.
but I think that Prometheus was some sort of prequel to Alien and Prometheus was good
|
| |
oh yes
|
| |
The Hobbit isn't a fuckin prequel though cuz it came first so there
|
| |
the movie is a prequel treb.
|
| |
"name me one stellar prequel from a successful series."
X Men: First Class and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes were both pretty good. Maybe not "stellar," but definitely good.
Digging: Boysetsfire - While A Nation Sleeps...
|
| |
prometheus was a mess, first class went to shit after the young
mutants were introduced, and rise was alright but everyone had
extremely low expectations going in so it was a nice surprise.
|
| |
The Hobbit is technically a prequel to The Lord of the Rings. The book was written first and the finding of the Ring sets up the story line in LOTR. I think that Jackson should have made this before LOTR, but I was worried he was never going to make The Hobbit and I cannot wait to see all three films. The third should be interesting, not sure what Jackson will put in it.
|
| |
I just saw Prometheus a few days ago, I wasn't a big fan of it either. I was surprised by Rise too, but I didn't really have any expectations going in, so that probably helped. I enjoyed the Xmen movie quite a bit, but I have only seen it the one time in theaters.
I just found out pretty recently that the 2nd Indiana Jones movie was a prequel to the first one. Not that it's a good example (it's not the best Indy movie, but it's still solid), I was just surprised to find that out. I guess I just never noticed before.
|
| |
first class would have been great if it just focused on how magneto
and professor x came to be the mutants we know them as in their
grudge match which is what they were doing so well until the
movie threw in a bunch of other useless subplots no one cared
about and completely detracted from the true interesting aspects.
|
| |
wasn't Godfather 2 a prequel?
|
| |

Probably.
"wasn't Godfather 2 a prequel?"
I believe you are correct.
|
| |
Prometheus was awful, except for the birthing scene was did make me uncomfortable.
|
| |
Why did Jackson make the LOTR movies before The Hobbit?
|
| |
Because The Lord of the Rings books were more popular than The Hobbit book.
|
| |
That's some good logic at work. I've never read either series, so I don't know much about the books. I've just seen each LOTR movies once.
|
| |
yippee.
|
| |
anyone think that they will make The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales into movies?
|
| |
Jackson said its unlikely.
|
| |
Pretty sure he said no Hobbit either.
yet here we are.
|
| |
That's true, but not many people are as familiar with those two as they are to LOTR and The Hobbit.
|
| |
Thanks for posting this.
Movie arrives in Greek theaters on December the 13th, so this stream will be a good warm-up for the movie.

Because The Lord of the Rings books were more popular than The Hobbit book.
Actually he didn't have the film rights at the time
|
| |
Oh, well the LOTR books were still more popular than The Hobbit.
|
| |
I added the album to the database, seeing as no-one had added it yet.
|
| |
Pretty sure The Hobbit was always far more popular. LotR only broke out of geekdom with the movies, whereas the Hobbit has always been a fairly widely read adolescent novel
