Thought this said 'Rad' at first.
Kinda disappointed, tbh.

Digging: Kanye West - Yeezus

damn this is really bad, so generic.

holy shit this band sucks

this isn't taylor swift.

Well then, that was pretty uninspired. This new album isn't looking like it's gonna be
any good.
Digging: Boards of Canada - Tomorrow's Harvest
|

I thought that was alright. Nothing special but not bad
|
| |
What the heck did the producer do to his voice? He sounded better before.
Digging: Porcupine Tree - Deadwing

What the heck did the producer do to the whole fucking band, this is garbage.
|
| |
eh it's okay

well it was a smidgen better than the last song (riff in chorus was tolerable), both are disappointing
faith in album is now gone
|
| |
WHERE ARE THE FUCKING STRINGS!!!!!???
|
| |
fuck Howard Benson.
fuck him so hard.
Digging: Deafheaven - Sunbather

I will never understand why anyone thought they ever WEREN'T generic. Good, yes, but they've always been generic.
Digging: Scapegoat - I Am Alien

So bad.
Digging: Captain, We're Sinking - The Future Is Cancelled

Howard Benson keeps outdoing himself and not in a good way.
|
| |
Yeah this reeks. They've always been bad, but they've sunk to a new level with these two songs. I'm still shocked Innocence has a 3.8 rating on here. That's way too high.
|
| |
Fuck Howard Benson, seriously, fuck him. He's ruining one of my favorite bands. Also, where the fuck are the strings [over 9000]
Fuck you Howard. Go back to producing bands without substance, don't ruin Red you fucking piece of shit.
|
| |
I thought it was better than pretty much every song from the last album other than Feed The Machine. However, I swear
I've heard that intro before...
|
| |
I thought it was better than pretty much every song from the last album other than Feed The Machine.
I don't even...
|
| |
The album just sounded like Breaking Benjamin's last album, except more boring to me. :/
|
| |
This sounded so damn hollow compared to Until We Have Faces. At least UWHF had strings! This album so far has none.
|
| |
holy shit I didn't realize that Breaking Benjamin was making a new album
Seriously though, where the fuck are the strings? where's the choral melodies? this is shaping up to be a steaming pile of shit which I'm going to be happy to write a 1.0 review about
|
| |
yeah hollow is a good word to describe this shit
|
| |
So far I find it to be a 2 or a 2.5, not a 1. I just can't ignore how fucking amazing of a singer Michael is.
|
| |
That's true about the strings. Also, I just listened to the other song they released. I would have been obsessed with it had it come out a few years ago. Now, not so much.
|
| |
this is a legit 1.5 for me
the whole alt-metal thing doesn't cut it
but yea his voice is the one thing redeeming this album
|
| |
It's not just redeeming at this point, unlike Red's other albums, Michael's voice is completely carrying this album, where as before on the last three albums, his voice worked hand in hand with the instrumentals.
|
| |
I actually really enjoyed the majority of UWHF, but this...this is just disappointing coming from a band that's capable of SO much more.
|
| |
Again, fuck Howard Benson for making this album a piece of shit.
|
| |
Lyrically, this kind of sounds like a Linkin Park song.
Digging: Boysetsfire - While A Nation Sleeps...
|
| |
well that was pretty disappointing
Digging: August Burns Red - Rescue and Restore
|
| |
It's not as bad as the other song but still not good. Judging by those two songs this album will be a 2.
|
| |
the previews are up and surprise surprise, they sound shitty!

You guys are frigging hilarious for blaming the producer. I've looked at his credits, he seems legit to me.
Not to mention it's clearly not the production you hate. You hate the songs. If the songs were great, you wouldn't be saying this stuff.
And again, they were just never THAT good. They always openly talked about striving to be like Breaking Benjamin or Chevelle, or frigging... I don't know. I just do not understand any of you.
|
| |
Okay, listened. I guess you're all mad because it's heavier and lacks the MIDI strings you've grown so attached to. Fair enough, but, Jeez.
|
| |
:[ don't like this

wtf are you on about
|
| |
previews sound very linkin park-eqsue
album cover is meh
|
| |
"You guys are frigging hilarious for blaming the producer. I've looked at his credits, he seems
legit to me. "
Three Days Grace, Skillet's worst album (after arguably their best), Daughtry, Theory of the
Deadman.
"They always openly talked about striving to be like Breaking Benjamin"
lol Chevelle I can see, but Red is miles ahead of BB (though for mainstream rock BB is decent)
"Okay, listened. I guess you're all mad because it's heavier and lacks the MIDI strings you've grown
so attached to. Fair enough, but, Jeez."
Yeah man, that's why we all loved Feed the Machine. We hate heavier stuff.
Gotta be honest, it sounds to me like you have shit taste. The fact that you speak with contempt of
strings shows any degree of nuance is lost on you.
|
| |
Yeah so the preview has me excited. Sure, the first half is fucking awful. It's more of the same alt metal trash.
The second half is a little more melodic with some more layering (including strings). They have potential at the least, and I think the closer sounds great.
It's like 1.0 (first half) and
|
| |
everybody needs to migrate over and go listen to the new chevelle song now
|
| |
or they could just listen to janus which is chevelle done better
Digging: BT - This Binary Universe
|
| |
In general, they're not terribly bad songs; they're just really bad Red songs.
or they could just listen to janus which is chevelle done better
Also, thanks for this. I've never heard this band before. They sound like a combination of 10 Years and Chevelle, and something else I can't identify.
|
| |
meh the whole alt metal thing is awful to me
maybe I just overdid it when I was like 15 so I have this violent backlash against it now
|
| |
"They always openly talked about striving to be like Breaking Benjamin"
lol Chevelle I can see, but Red is miles ahead of BB (though for mainstream rock BB is decent)
Chevelle doesn't sound anything like Breaking Benjamin
|
| |
Not very good. They could do it so much better.
|
| |
"or they could just listen to janus which is chevelle done better"
janus is sick, but they have quite a ways to go before i consider them on par with chevelle
|
| |
Yeah, I don't think Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin really sound that much alike. I would listen to Chevelle over BB any day.
I'll have to check out Janus, I've never heard of them.
|
| |
I just listened to the Red album previews, it seems as though the second half of the album kicks ass. Still don't like the production but god damn Red you surprise me yet again.
|
| |
Also, turns out there are some deluxe addition tracks not listed or shown on the previews -
11. "Love Will Leave a Mark"
12. "As You Go"
13. "Hymn for the Missing (Guillotine remix)"
14. "Death of Me (Guillotine remix)"
15. "Breathe Into Me (Remix Acústica)"
|
| |
Remixes on Red songs? Pass...
|
| |
"Chevelle doesn't sound anything like Breaking Benjamin"
Never said they did. I said that I could see Red striving to be as successful (in a musical, not commercial, sense) as Chevelle, but not BB since they've easily surpassed BB.
"it seems as though the second half of the album kicks ass"
Yeah.
And what the heck is Guillotine? Doesn't sound promising but w/e deluxe tracks are just like bonus content for me
|
| |
1) I speak in contempt of strings...? No I don't... I happen to love strings... Although "strings" is just an umbrella term for a NUMBER of instruments, and I don't pretend having strings makes a band more cultured or "nuanced"
2) They said they seek to be like those bands in interviews when "Breathe Into Me" was playing on the radio. Read it in a magazine, you don't have to believe me, but, they did.
3) Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin are not the same, no, but I am simply quoting/paraphrasing what I remember them saying. If you ever meet them, ask them why they grouped them together. (Though they may not have said Breaking Benjamin, I know they said Chevelle. That could be my mistake.)
They're good, and you can love them all you want, but you need to cool it, seriously.
|
| |
seems like you need to chill out a bit
|
| |
I'm hungry
and I have 8am class tomorrow
fuck
|
| |
I'm not nearly as non-chilled as I as I seem, just opinionated and prone to babble.
|
| |
chill out man JUST CHILL THE FREAK OUT
|
| |
JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE
|
| |
I CAN'T CHILL OUT BECAUSE RED IS THE COLOR OF FIRE AND LAVA AND HEAT AND IT'S GOT ME ALL HEATED SO I CANNOT BE CHILLED BECAUSE CHILL IS THE OPPOSITE OF FIRE AND LAVA AND HEAT AND THERE IS JUST NO BLUE IN THIS TOPIC AND BLUE IS THE COLOR OF ICE AND WATER AND CHILL
