Led Zeppelin's Deluxe Reissues
2012-11-29 by Hernan M. Campbell STAFF | 35 Replies | 2983 Views

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, guitarist Jimmy Page proclaimed that he is currently planning to release new deluxe editions of Led Zeppelin's 8 original studio albums, plus the 1982 post-breakup collection, Coda. He states that the reissues will include "added sonic and visual thrills," and expects to begin debuting the series sometime in 2013. He also went on to claim that different outtakes and alternate versions of certain songs will also be included in the planned releases. "There was an overage of material – different versions of things, different approaches to the mixes."

Page is also looking at relevant live recordings and film to accompany the reissues. "There are concerts that were recorded – some that might have appeared on bootleg in some shape or form – and a certain amount of footage, though not a lot," he said. "I started doing this with [2003's] Led Zeppelin DVD and [the 2003 three-CD set] How the West Was Won, which was a superb live performance."

Regarding the release date for the initial reissues, Page warned that "You've got to get to the point where all of the members of the group are in agreement," referring to singer Robert Plant and bassist John Paul Jones. "I would hope it is sooner rather than later. But it will be in the course of next year and going on for awhile."

Though regarding the quality and quantity of these reissues, Page went on to say that he wont be "throwing on any old flotsam and jetsam," assuring that the bonus material will be "really substantial stuff."

Sorry guys, I edited this after I upload it and I guess I re-submitted by accident. This is my first time uploading a news article so
I was bound to fuck up somehow. Again, I'm sorry and I hope you liked the article.

It could very well be, but I am excited for the bonus material and alternate takes.

yeah hopefully there's some good shit on here

I guess Jimmy must be bored not touring so he just tinkers with the old stuff

really wish they'd get it together and tour some more, Celebration Day proves they can still do it

This is cool news, I guess, but I think it's kind of sad how Page is still living off stuff he did between 30 and 40 years ago. On the other hand, maybe that's better than releasing a crappy album nobody wants every other year.

Seriously though I wonder what he does these days. It's not like he could work, he doesn't make music, doesn't tour etc. Maybe he just sits at home or something? lol

Maybe he sits by the fire and reads some Fangoria and FHM magazines.

Deluxe reissues are cash grabs by definition. The extras could always have some great material in there, but unless Page has really been holding out on us for so long, I can't imagine anything amazing.

It's still Zepplelin so as long as you've yet to buy any of their stuff then it should be worth investing in. Of course you could just go to a flea market and pick up originals for 8-10 bucks.
