Isis release free tracks 2012-11-23 by William Lim | 38 Replies | 2423 Views |
Disbanded post-metal giants Isis experienced a small mix-up with the release of their posthumous retrospective compilation Temporal on the 6th of November. The pressing of their CDs carried a sticker which informed purchasers that the album came with a download code for bonus tracks, though upon further inspection, the album contained no such code. Isis cleared this up on their Facebook page: "the CD was stickered with the LP sticker claiming there was a 'download card with bonus tracks', the download card was mistakenly not included inside the CD package." To rectify this, the Facebook post was accompanied with a direct link to a download of the following tracks:
1. "From Sinking" (demo) - 8:32
2. "Syndic Calls" (demo) - 9:28
3. "In Fiction" (demo) - 8:29
4. "20 Minutes / 40 Years" (demo) - 6:53
5. "Hall of the Dead" (demo) - 6:44

Nah, we're getting something equally as awesome: Everyone except Turner is in a new band called Palms with Chino Moreno.
|
| |
yay...
|
| |
Isis are dead, getting back together would be cool, but they quit while they were ahead and I respect that
|
| |
Palms is just unrecorded ISIS material with Chino on vox so it'll probs rock.

Do you know if Aaron has any plans for future projects (with new material/a different sound)?
|
| |
Aaron's already involved like 1000 different projects, bro. Twilight, Greymachine, House of Low Culture, Lotus Eaters, and some others. Pretty sure he was featured on Caxide's side project too.

Whoops, I forgot Mamiffer and Old Man Gloom. And some others. Yeah, the guys does quite a bit.

In a recent interview with Chino, he said all the music was done and they were just waiting for him to do the vox. Obviously he's been pretty busy with Koi No Yokan and is now on tour so it will be a while yet.

Nah, besides Neurosis and the solo projects, the label signs some boring shit. I love that Hawkwind comp they put out a while back. I would love Profound Lore to sign with them and really mix things up.

'Isis are dead, getting back together would be cool, but they quit while they were ahead and I respect that'
agreed ahrd ISIS was one of my favorite groups ever but if they decide to get back together for any other reason than because they have re-kindled the creative fire and have more to do because THEY want/need to do it, then it's lame.
they didn't keep recording and doing things they weren't sure about, or forcing new material out, they did what was right for the group and all the members and yeah that is pretty respectable imo.

Any comments on the content of the bonus tracks? 20 Minutes / 40 Years demo is interesting
|
| |
are any of them really that much different from the album versions?
|
| |
Isis took what Neurosis did, stripped away all the good bits and reduced it down to a contrived and boring formula that's been copied over and over again. Band should stay dead.

Even though aesthetically they're not even remotely similar bands. ISIS and Neurosis shouldn't be compared because of how vastly different they are and it's difficult to imagine it's even the same genre. Both amazing bands and if you disagree then it must suck being you.

| |
ISIS are so insanely good; they've impacted me so much and I don't know what it is about Wavering
Radiant but that album has touched me in a way that I can never experience with any other album. Isis,
for the love of christ, get back to-fucking-gether
OH AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW?? The demos fucking rule as well

People keep saying this, but the only similarity I've ever been able to see between Isis and Neurosis has been that they both write long metal songs.
|
| |
why would they die?
oh, right.. because they're a million times better than your favorite bs groups, k

nah, early isis definitely sounded a lot like neurosis. starting from oceanic they developed their own unique sound tho
|
| |
fuck thanks for the free demos
|
| |
'What the hell is an Isis?'
in plain english: a fucking awesome band
|
| |
Reunion Tour: A Okay and would be down with this since I got into them post break up and never saw them live.
Getting Back Together: Not cool, since they broke up because they didn't want to make music just to make something, and I highly respect that. Also because almost all of their side projects are fucking awesome and those would be gone if they got back together as ISIS.
