Skrillex Influences New Muse Record?
2012-07-26 by Philip Whitehead | 185 Comments

British rock band Muse have spoken to Kerrang! about their new album, "The 2nd Law", and described how Skrillex has helped shape the sound that will be appearing on it.
Dominic Howard explains: "We went to see Skrillex in Camden around October. We went, 'F***, it's so heavy,' loved it.

"It was like a full metal gig, they had circles of death, people were moshing, I hadn't seen a reaction like that to electronic music before. We took inspiration and came up with 'The 2nd Law: Unsustainable'."

Matt Bellamy continued, "We created something that was dubsteppy but we wanted to see if we could do it with real instruments."

The 2nd Law is released on Monday 17th September.

The mark of a true musician is someone who is able to challenge themselves, to try new things, and to stay true to themselves (by which I don't mean 'staying true to what they've done before', but rather staying true to themselves by making the music THEY want to make without being afraid of´╗┐ how much money they could lose or how many people they might piss off)."

Bellamy is the biggest douchebag to front a band since Bono. This will be even worse than The Resistance and the British Press will convince the kids that it's a masterpiece and Muse will remain one of the most popular bands in the world.

Muse have always sucked, I didn't know it would need to come to this before anybody would realise it.

as soon as I saw 'survival' made the album, and wasn't just a shitty, one-off olympics song.. I gave up all hope for muse. now I see this and wonder why I had any hope for muse at all

I saw this coming a mile off.... Skrillex is slowly taking over all popular music... Soon we won't even have band names just Skrillex 1...Skrillex 2...Skrillex 3...Rock Skrillex...Rap Skrillex...etc....

I'm pretty sure they also said only two songs off the album would have any noticeable dubstep/brostep influences in another interview.

I like the band, I can stand The Resistance, but I just hope dubstep is not the main sound of the new album, because it would be as I said before, a big shit

If they're going for "heavy" and not giving in to the Electronica bullshit, hopefully it'll be okay. I'm not a huge fan of their last 2 1/2 albums, but I'm really rooting for them here.

No! Just, no! Is that supposed to be a good thing?! It's bad enough we got a Skrillex-influenced Korn album, now Muse?! I hate Skrillex enough, because now this lazy untalented asshole become the face of dubstep, the worst possible thing to happen is to have him become the muse (no pun intended) for much better acts in completely unrelated genres of music.
