Both albums were very good, I prefer the first one because it has a better vocal work.

This came as such an awesome surprise. I had no idea that they'd even started recording another album...and so soon after their (kick ass) release last year. =)

Why do people label this band "Modern Thrash" it makes no sense both albums are Mid-Tempo Metalcore through and through.

I enjoyed some of the material off of Edge of the Earth but the vocals were pretty flat. His higher-pitched scream has a cool sound to it but the constipated grunts need to go.

The production and pacing is almost identical to All That Remains, Unearth and Trivium. Are those bands Thrash also?

The album art struck me as a mix between TBDM's Ritual (stylistically) imposed upon Mastodon's Crack the Skye design

Because the production and pacing was the total extent of my point... but since you need me to break this down for you they have all the elements of your average Metalcore band.

Lame lyrics about things that don't matter, annoyingly forced low-grunts/Screams, Thick overly-clean production, mid to moderately fast pacing, non-existent bass and boring snares. Great band by the way.

They aren't the Traditional style of Metalcore that actually has some traces of Hardcore in it, but if you're going to label them something that isn't Thrash what is it? Death Metal? C'mon.

This is a rather pointless discussion to have but hardly anything about this band is Thrash.

Sure, but all of these newer bands like All That Remains who don't fall under the category of Melodic Death Metal are usually lumped into the "Metalcore" genre since there's no other place to put them. This band isn't very Progressive either but whatever.

I don't even know why I'm continuing this conversation being in a certain genre or not is pretty irrelevant, sounding good in general is all that really matters. I'll just never in a million years understand how Sylosis is "Thrashy."

The riffs are only fast on occasion they usually slow it way down after the intro. I mean you can have a slower song or two on a Thrash album but when you're only starting every song off with a fast tempo instead of keeping it aggressive throughout that's when you start to sound more along the lines of these new Mainstream Metalcore bands or Melodeath.

lol what how can you deny that just about every song on Edge of the Earth slows down big time towards the middle section. Conclusion of an Age is a little faster but still not Thrash.

Cracke this is very simple yet you insist on making this extremely complicated. There is little to no
hardcore in Sylosis' music. Like a user stated before, Metalcore = Metal + Hardcore.

Thrash can be mid tempo and have breaks; I don't get your point. In fact these constant changes are
the progressive element in their sound.
