I'm okay with either vocalist showing up. Just want an album that's as good as Digital Veil but longer

I want Nathan back :[
|
| |
As long as AJ, Henry, Dean, and Brett are in the band, it's all gravy. Could give a shit less who the vocalist is.
|
| |
fucking sweet. though honestly i want nathan back too
Digging: Made Of Hate - Bullet In Your Head
|
| |
AJ could run this band by himself honestly.
|
| |
He had some solo stuff going on while he was in THA called NRE but I didn't like it and I have no idea what he's up to these days. He should just rejoin the band haha.
|
| |
Wait who are you talking about, Nathan? Or AJ?
|
| |
AJ is clearly the backbone but Nathan was the finishing touch for this band.
|
| |
Yeah he did have some good chops on him, but AJ will always be the backbone of this band. He's so fucking filthy at guitar.
|
| |
Aj is awesome. i hope if THA doesnt last he starts a neo-classical project. no metal/hardcore. just straight classical
|
| |
I'd definitely listen to that
|
| |
Well I mean even the intro of Elegiac. It's so sick. He even grows his finger nails out so he can finger pick acoustic. Nasty guitar player.
|
| |
Neat, I hope Travis is back. Next time they do a US there needs to be Pittsburgh date.

Travis was alright, but nothing will beat Nocturne.
|
| |
Except for Digital Veil
|
| |
"Except for Digital Veil"
Have you listened to Nocturne front to back? Jesus.
|
| |
Multiple times
|
| |
I honestly prefer Travis, as much as I like Nocturne. But I couldn't give a shit as long as AJ's still here.

As long as those two guitarists are there I'll listen to anything these guys do

"As long as those two guitarists are there I'll listen to anything these guys do"
Exactly. AJ and Dean win.
|
| |
Fuck Nathan, I think Travis is far superior. Was surprised no one put this up yet so I took the liberty lol
|
| |
But really as long as AJ, Dean and Brent are their all will be good
|
| |
They pulled him from the gallows

Nathan sucks. He sucks at screaming and is mediocre at singing, Midheaven was essentially a Nathan side-project and was shit. Travis is an alright singer but his harsh vocals blow everything Nathan has uttered out of his mouth out of the fucking water.
Nathan is more "unique" though, sure.
|
| |
Travis sounds like a fucking (literal) beast when screaming. And honestly I really enjoy his cleans
|
| |
lol fuck dat shit. Nathan used his voice like it was some sort of art style. if that makes any sense. either way Nathan fucking owns.
|
| |
I really can't stand Nathan.
|
| |
hey i accept your opinion but.................
WHAT THE FUCK WHY?!?!?!?!!!?
Nathan to me was the beethoven of vocals. he fitted the classical sound so damn perfectly
|
| |
Idk
|
| |
I like Nocturne (AJ was more interesting on here than on Digital Veil) and can certainly tolerate Nathan, but I just don't see the appeal in his vocals.
|
| |
Agreed. And nah as a guitarist myself Digital Veil is much more impressive
|
| |
hmm he had so much passion and fire. idk something about his vocals were sick. to me Travis is just your everyday vocalist. didnt have the spark nathan had.
|
| |
The passion was there, you can tell he put a lot into it, problem is lack of ability.
|
| |
Exactly. But Vela is still amazing
|
| |
Nocturne had some great stuff for sure. But I find Digital Veil superior on every level, especially the vocals. Travis blows everything Nathan's done out of the water. His screams are undeniably great, and I actually love his cleans, though I get that some people don't.
|
| |
They're good, solid cleans, there's just nothing particularly special about them
|
| |
I feel there's a sort of emotion in them that a lot of vocalists lack. Like towards the end of Antebellum, I can't really describe it, but his voice just seems... Awesome.
|
| |
Am I the only one who slightly enjoyed Midheaven?
|
| |
Probably Snide
|
| |
As long as that mastermind A.J is playing guitar I couldn't give a fuck who is on vocals. I like both of them.

Sweet, an actual discussion on THA. I was expecting a hate fest.
|
| |
I have no idea how people like Nathan. I think he absolutely fucking blows. Travis's harsh vocals are really good but his cleans need a lot of work.
|
| |
If Nathan was back I probably wouldn't mind that much but seriously Travis was so much better, both his cleans and screams are awesome. TBH I don't think Nocturne was near as good as Digital Veil because of Nathan.
|
| |
paxman I love how you made a calm comment about expecting a hate fest on The Human Abstract, and then FearThyEvil9 makes a rage comment on Nathan.
|
| |
There's been a couple rage comments on nathan if you look more closely
|
| |
love me some good neo classical metal

If you really think that was a rage comment then you're retarded. I just dislike nathan because I think he's awful. I didn't say anything to people for liking him.
|
| |
Travis is much better than Nathan

Fear, If you really think that I was referring a rage comment to raging at other people, you read my comment wrong.

Nocturne is average.

Nathan's vocals were a lot more energetic and lively I felt. His screaming sounded like a rougher version of his singing. It was almost like a punk vocalist in a technical metalcore band, which I loved. Travis's vocals are generic in every respect.
|
| |
Maybe Travis' cleans are 'generic' but they are very good, he's very controlled. Plus his screams are awesome. Travis is the better vocalist. Anyway, I don't why we are talking about Travis vs. Nathan because Nathan isn't even in the picture anymore. He's out of the question.
|
| |
Nathan's the dude on Nocturne, right? If so, that guy's awesome. I love his vocal style. "Nathan's vocals were a lot more energetic and lively I felt. His screaming sounded like a rougher version of his singing. It was almost like a punk vocalist in a technical metalcore band, which I loved." all of their other songs.
|
| |
Zilbel, yeah Nathan is their old vocalist from Nocturne and Midheaven. Let's not talk about Midheaven though. I like to pretend it doesn't exist.
|
| |
And chuck stop crushing my dreams Nathan's coming back any day now........yeah
|
| |
Lol dear God I hope not. They kicked him for a reason. If they got him to play this festival and they played songs from Digital Veil it'd be so bad.
|
| |
Yeah I dont think he'd mesh too well with their new stuff.
|
| |
Not at all. IMO the only too vocalists that even would work well on DV are Travis and Ryan
|
| |
Ryan is a freakin bomb vocalist and he's very similar to Travis. Do you listen to Corelia?
|
| |
why would anyone want nathan back in the band
Digging: The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us Is the Killer

@Chuck I have heard them before and remember the vocalist being unique but no I don't listen to them.
@Thor, because Nocturne was perfect and also because you touch yourself at night.
|
| |
nathan owns, travis is generic.
that is all

why would anyone want nathan back in the band
THIS
|
| |
I tend to focus more on the instruments when listening to an amazingly talented band like THA, but I think where the vocals fit in really depends on what musical direction they go in next. Nocturne was technical and classical and so Nathan's softer vocals helped. But Digital Veil was a lot heavier and so Travis' heavier vocals went along really well. I hope their next album is a mix between Nocturne and Digital Veil because I love them both probably equally.
|
| |
Fear I already answered that question.
|
| |
Well KS listen to Corelia, get mind blown
|
| |
cause fear Nathan owned.
also what does corelia have to do with this.
|
| |
Singer has been filling in for Travis I guess
|
| |
Uhh Ryan Devlin flutter
|
| |
I like the vocalist they had on their demo ep. Try to find the song memento mori by them, it's the perfect middle ground between nathan and travis
