The King Blues Break Up

2012-04-03 by Sanders | 23 Comments
The King Blues have to announced their intention to break up following a final album release in June 2012.

From the band's Facebook page:

"It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that we must inform you, that as of today The King Blues are no more.

We are all immensely proud of our body of work. We will be releasing the last The King Blues album entitled ‘Long Live The Struggle’ as the final chapter. The album will be released in early July 2012

We simply feel we have taken things as far as they can go and it would be unfair on you if we were to go through the motions like so many other artists do. We all believe strongly in what The King Blues stands for.

Can we take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your support, love and passion down the years.

long live the struggle

in solidarity,

The King Blues"

Pretty sad. I always liked this band and Itch is a damn good lyricist. Interested to see if he does something new.

Itch has had a side project lined up for a while- its supposedly Rancid meets The Beastie Boys meets Skrillex (I hope I've remembered that correctly!).

Went off this band when most of the members left, their first two albums are great though.

Quiting while still on top? Quiting after releasing what they believe is as good as they'll ever be? Like At the Gates? Imense respect for that.

I thought these guys could only keep going up. They're one of my favourite bands and I'm so glad I got to see them live in September just gone. Their set was awesome, and the support The Skints were damn good too. Along with Motion City Soundtrack, they're a top live band.
