Sabbath on tour without Iommi

2012-02-18 by Voivod STAFF | 69 Comments
Black Sabbath have announced tour dates for 2012 in Europe.

Unfortunately, most concerts will be realized without the classic lineup, because of Toni Iommi's ongoing battle against Lymphoma. Zakk Wylde will be covering for Tony Iommi.

The list of tour dates is as follows:

05.23 Helsinki, FI: Hartwall Arena

05.25 Stockholm, SE: Stadium

05.27 Jelling, DK: Jelling Music Festival

05.29 Bergen, NO: Bergen Calling

05.31 Oslo, NO: Spektrum

06.02 Malmo, SE: Malmo Stadium

06.04 Dortmund, DE: Westfalenhalle

06.06 Prague, CZ: O2 Arena

06.15 Bilbao, ES: Azkena Rock Festival

06.17 Nantes, FR: Hellfest

06.19 Paris, FR: Bercy

06.22 Dessel, BE: Graspop Metal Meeting

06.24 Milan, IT: Gods of Metal

06.26 Vienna, AT: Wiener Stadthalle

06.28 Belgrade, RS: Usce Park

07.01 Athens, GR: Rockwave Festival

So it's basically another Ozzy tour as we all expected it would end up?

Dammit, thats not a Sabbath tour, but Zakk is probably one of the best guys to cover for Tony

Who cares. Iommi is more important. I hope he pulls through, and I'm sure he will. Lymphoma is one of the less-deadly cancers.

Dio needs to come back from the grave, kick Ozzy's ass, and lead Sabbath on an amazing tour.

Okay, I think we've established that without Tony Iommi there is no such thing as Black Sabbath. Everyone in the band probably realizes that too which is why they are calling this lineup "Ozzy & Friends" and not Black Sabbath.

ummm ozzy plays sabbath songs with the ozzy band and often has geezer fill in (ie; ozzmosis). so with geezer, ozzy and wylde without ward or iommi, yeah, you're right, it is just another ozzy show.

This is turning out to be one awful example of a reunion tour. It isn't really much of a reunion if half of the band is gone; it has pretty much returned to Ozzy Osbourne with some other people.

The very article sourced in this post said that. I'm glad some users on this site know how to read.

Or maybe I must have missed the part where it said that there is such a thing as Black Sabbath without Iommi.

Ward released a statement saying that he's still waiting on feedback from like the other people's lawyer to determine if they'll give him a better contract or not. For this to have any hope of legitimacy without Iommi they absolutely need Ward.

The most important thing right now is Tony's health no doubt about it, but i paid to see the original line-up. Sabbath should cancel completely their tours and wait until Tony's condition get improved.

This isn't as Black Sabbath, if you read the announcement. Only one show is as Black Sabbath and that is Download Festival. The rest are as "Ozzy and Friends" and will have a changing lineup, including Zakk Wylde and Slash.
