The owner of influential label Hyperdub, Kode9, has announced via twitter a new EP from South London dubstep producer Burial.

“HDB059 Burial – Kindred EP. Join Hyperdub mailing list for news. Vinyl/digital and def less than 25quid”

At the time of this article no other information has been revealed, either through Kode9's twitter feed or the label's mailing list. Kindred will mark Burial's return to solo material after the March release of Street Halo. Collaborations with Four Tet and Massive Attack have appeared in the interim.

what exactly is the strict definition of dubstep? as in, if there was an electronic music dictionary, what would be written under it

"type it in google"

"Its overall sound has been described as "tightly coiled productions with overwhelming bass lines and reverberant drum patterns, clipped samples, and occasional vocals"."
that doesn't tell me much when I hear stuff that some people say is dubstep and some say is house

NIIIICE.

@ Anarchist, it's generally at 140 BPM with a half-step drum patter, usually with kick on the first beat and snare on the 3rd. Has deep and prominent sub-bass, is spacious and often dark. A lot of times has a drop but not always...

It's evolved so much by now it's hard to pin it down, but that's what the basic original sound was about.

I thought Garage ran in the blood of every englishman though ?

Put garage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTLKULU1uzY
and dub: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IcnrIa0xCo together and you get dubstep: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-4Cq1kW1Rk

Dub, it's one of the genre's predominant themes. Obviously it's been modified a a tad, but dubstep takes that always present bass that threatens to overthrow the tracks and applied to half-step garage beats.

Here's perhaps a better example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVpjPuzlvus

Hear that throbbing bass? It might sound incredibly simple, but that comes from dub. Plus the whole ragga atmosphere as well
