Fuck Yes!! Song rules.
| |
That's more like it!
| |
It's ok
| |
like it
| |
Rift was catchy at first but they used it for the entire song, got a bit stale. Still not really sure how I feel about this band.
| |
ssshhhwing
| |
Pretty awesome riff and song...totally heard some undertow esque tool influences, also awesome!
| |
Come on, Chevelle. This song is just lazy. I want some ass-kicking Straight Jacket Fashion type stuff.
| |
Their first single from the last album was probably one of my least favourite tracks on the album.
If it's the same with this album then I'm going to reeeeaallly like this new album.
| |
Great song, good job as usual.
| |
why did they use that same riff through the whole song?
| |
Yeah, this song isn't bad, but the rest of the album should be much better, in usual Chevelle fashion.
Probably a solid 3.5
| |
Was not expecting to see this up tonight, wow. UnnamedOcean is right, the rest of the album should be much better, but this will do juuuuussssttt fine for now.
And holy shit, they have never sounded more like Tool in all their career, it sounded like an angry Tool song.
| |
Why are their singles always the worst?
| |
That really only happened on the latest two albums. If Chevelle fans remember, "The Red", "Vitamin R", and "The Clincher" were all singles and some of the best off their respective albums, The Red probably being their most popular or signature song.
| |
Pretty average hard rock tbh. The riff really didn't need to be repeated through the whole song.
| |
yes! can't wait for this.
| |
omg tiesthatbind changed his avatar, this is historic, it's not Jim Halpert anymore! When did this happen?
| |
Couple days ago. I figured it was time for a change since
a: I've had the avatar for quite a while and
b: The Office is looking to be very average this season
| |
No Steve Carrell, no pwalcher, I didn't even bother with this new season. But seriously I was starting to think you were actually John Krasinski irl.
| |
I understand that, happens with me sometimes when people keep their avatars for a long time.
| |
Not bad, though I swear the vocals occasionally remind me of 10 Years.
| |
Vocals remind me of Tool, I dig the song. Catchy little riff.
| |
riff is just as if he did a power chord progression through it. just another rhythm section. solid effort, though nothing mind-blowing from them
| |
What a sick song! I've been thinking of getting into Chevelle, I guess now I have all the more reason
| |
Sounds like Chevelle. It's a good thing.
| |

Yeah that's what I was thinking after I made that comment. Though I find Jars far more infectious than this single.
| |
Sounds great, i'm loving the riff.
| |
eh.
| |
keepsafethisearth
putintojars
| |
Jars sucked too.
| |
Jars was pretty good but this is sweet as well.
| |
jars ruled
| |
This band is keeping this genre alive
| |
Not bad. I prefer Jars over this as well, though. I believe they said that this album is going to be angrier than their other ones. I hope they are right.
| |
"I believe they said that this album is going to be angrier than their other ones. I hope they are right."
I think they did say it was going to be their heaviest/angriest yet.
Then again, they said that for Vena Sera too, and, well....
And yeah the song kicks ass. Audio quality is terrible on the stream though, found a bunch of much better videos on Youtube and such.
| |
Didn't think it was going to be any good but I must say it is quite enjoyable.
| |
Chevelle are one of the best average bands ever. theyve never made a mindblowing album, but theyve never made a bad album. just consistently good with a few great songs
| |
^
Exactly.
| |
I checked out their FB the other day, and it looks like this album is going to be pretty different than the others.
| |
It like they're trying to cover the undertow.
| |
This might be the worst song they ever wrote.
| |
"This might be the worst song they ever wrote."
lol no
| |
They have written a few songs that were actually pretty crappy. This isn't that bad.
| |
""This might be the worst song they ever wrote."
lol no"
okay i'll give you their first album, but this is the worst thing I've heard since then
| |
^lol no [2]
| |
"okay i'll give you their first album"
You crazy? Point #1 was great, just very different. This is good too, catchy as Hell, and definately not the worst thing they've ever written. Actually, I don't know what the worst song they've ever written would be, they don't have any really bad songs.
| |
I think the only song i would say I dislike is "Long" off the first album, cuz you could tell he still hadn't perfected his scream yet and it just sounds awful. But honestly, if you're into this band, they don't really make "bad" songs, you can listen to full albums without ever wanting to skip anything really. Only the acoustic tracks come off as boring, but not bad.
| |
"Only the acoustic tracks come off as boring, but not bad."
Would agree if it weren't for "Highland's Apparition." I know what you mean about the screaming, but "Emotional Drought" is probably my least favourite of all their songs.
| |
Oh man "Highland's Apparition" actually gave me hope that Pete could finally pull off an acoustic track worth repeated listening. They don't do it very well, my buddy's into acoustic rock and every time he hears me play that song he says it sounds awful, so it makes me wonder why they even bother with them if even acoustic fans don't like it.
| |
Catchy little ditty. The main riff is okay but I liked the middle of the song better. The only thing that may need some time to grow on me is the chorus. Pete usually writes fantastic choruses.
Personally, I think Wonder What's Next, Vena Sera (I Get it!) and Sci-Fi Crimes (good gravy I love Shameful Metaphors!!!) are awesome. This Type of Thinking is good, but not great.
I agree with many of the above posters that a lot of times the singles are not the best. Hoping that's the case here because this isn't really doing it for me. Not bad... but not particularly compelling.
| |
"it makes me wonder why they even bother with them if even acoustic fans don't like it."
I hear all their songs are written on acoustic guitars first. And I believe they were also planning on making an all-acoustic album at one point. Which seems very strange as, like you said, they only have one acoustic song that's actually interesting.
And yeah Madapaka "I Get It" is still one of their best songs.
| |
I'm not much of a fan of their gritty guitar work, which is probably why I only like Sci-Fi Crimes. But I still think Jars was a better single, it had a much catchier chorus.
| |
I do like "Jars" better than this, the vocals slay this.
| |
vena sera is their weakest album by far, don't know what i feel about this.
| |
WTF that's boring!!!!
| |
That riff is cool but since they abuse it to no end, I'm not sure how this song's replay value will be in the long run. Oh well, until I find out, it's a nice, catchy track.
| |
I hated this. Couldn't finish the whole thing. Like its been said it started off cool but then it stayed that way the entire time. So boring
| |
Couldn't finish the whole thing. Like its been said it started off cool but then it stayed that way the entire time.
That sounds like every single one of Chevelle's albums
| |
But their other albums didn't have singles this bad...this doesn't bode welll....
| |
The thing I find about this band is that they will release an album as usual but I'll ALWAYS end up keeping maybe 3 or 4 songs off of it and discarding the rest.
| |
I don't think I'll ever understand the overwhelming praise for this band. They have some good stuff but I don't understand how people think they're "saving the genre" or whatever.
| |
"I don't think I'll ever understand the overwhelming praise for this band. They have some good stuff but I don't understand how people think they're "saving the genre" or whatever."
I wouldn't say they were "saving the genre" or anything, but I think they're just more interesting than a lot of their peers. There's obviously better, but I guess I just think they're a cut above the majority.
| |
Didn't find it to be as catchy as jars, but i liked it nonetheless
| |
I don't think I'll ever understand the overwhelming praise for this band. They have some good stuff but I don't understand how people think they're "saving the genre" or whatever.
I dunno, despite what I said earlier Chevelle is pretty much the only band I'd ever bother listening to in whatever genre this is.
| |
I guess I'm just not as big on this sort of alt rock as some people on the site are. Chevelle's got
some good stuff, but I still don't see that "x-factor" that I'm supposed to be seeing with them. I'm
usually ready to listen to something else after a few songs.
| |
Me too man, me too.
| |
The thing I find about this band is that they will release an album as usual but I'll ALWAYS end up keeping maybe 3 or 4 songs off of it and discarding the rest.
Same here.
| |
Hooray!
| |
That wasn't bad. it wasn't great either...
| |
It's the main reason I never buy anything by the band, and only have one track or so; almost a waste of time.
| |
haters gonna hate, im just gonna "forfeit" and keep listening to chevelle and then make my kids listen to chevelle when i "get some" of those.
| |
I forget you retards like this band here.
| |
dig it
| |
"I forget you retards like this band here."
Chill out bro, have a grilled cheese
| |
"The thing I find about this band is that they will release an album as usual but I'll ALWAYS end up keeping maybe 3 or 4 songs off of it and discarding the rest."
Well-played bloc. Totally agree. And i could probably name the 3-4 off each album as well haha.
| |
Haha, I bet it's easy as well
| |
boring and repetitive as hell :/ riff is quite nickelback-esque.
| |
this is so bad
| |
Yeah I'm pretty sketchy on this album. I doubt they will match the raw energy they had on Vena Sera.
| |
Also, Chevelle isn't really saving their genre, I see them more like a black sheep in the genre. Compared to Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Five Finger Death Punch, Seether, and all that other junk, Chevelle is just on a much higher level of quality.
| |
meehhh that riff is so nickelback/theory of a deadman-ish and they play it over and over and over..... i are disappoint
| |
^
No way.
| |
bend the bracket is a great song. all of their other albums are fantastic, this track not so much..
| |
