They didn't sell out, they created a more commercial record but it was the radio that overplayed them, their new record is a step back in the right direction. If anything, they've shunned their new fame and openly admit their contempt for their popular songs like Sex on Fire.

by shunning their own popular songs so contemptuously, they're kind of leaning a bit more towards the point that they did sell out and create a streamlined, commerical record because it indicates they don't like the music that made them popular, rather than that they're proud of their music but it made them famous.

i honestly couldn't care less about this band but what i find particularly peculiar is how vehement they seem on retaining this cool indie rockstar image to the point where they're the only ones buying it
