FUCK this came out the blue
his 3rd was absolutely astounding
Wow, RIP. Yeah Symphony No.3 was incredible. Anyone who hasn't heard that should go listen to it. I'll try to give it a listen today for him. This is sad news.
Digging: Lucy - Churches Schools and Guns
Symphony 3 was the only thing by him I had heard. May he RIP.
Sad day. Fine composer.
I will be writing up a proper obituary/tribute for the blog over the weekend.
This is truly upsetting news. RIP
Will definitely look some of his stuff up when I get off work tonight, since I'm on a big classical kick. RIP
RIP. One of the greatest composers in the 20th century, his stuff was absolutely incredible (esp Symphony 3).
whoooa, dammit. amazing composer.
damn this sucks. used to listen to his Third Symphony every night for like two months straight.. really loved that piece of music.
Rest in P.
What a shock. RIP to one of the greatest composers of the century.
I picked up an album where Kronos Quartet did stuff with/by him but have yet to check it out. I'll finally spin it today in his memory.
No! He's one of my favorite composers. This is really upsetting news.
RIP. I will listen to Symphony #3 tonight.
Digging: Peaking Lights - Lucifer
Was just listening to him this morning. RIP. This is far too sad.

Digging: Mac DeMarco - Salad Days
One of the best.
3rd kicked so much ass.
Digging: The House of Usher - Stars Fall Down
Oddly I've listened to about everything OTHER than the 3rd symphony... I love his stuff. I'm glad he was able to share so much before he passed on.
That is really unfortunate, Gorecki was a great modern composer; the world needs more like him.
p.s. rough year for Poland, no?
Digging: The War on Drugs - Lost In The Dream
^more like a rough 500 years for poland.
its been rough for poland since 1772, but since its polish independance day we can be all nationalistic
did you know the polish lithuanian commonwealth was the biggest land empire in europe for many years. 2nd oldest constitution in the world? ADOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm so glad Sputnik covers more than just popular music. This is a guy whose work healed a lot of broken hearts around the world. Rest in peace.
yep, no. 3 was amazing, and i don't even listen to classical all that much. rest in peace.
after Ligeti in 2006, this is a huge loss. there just aren't very many great composers left, at least in the classical sense. sad day, RIP.
