trying to edit this is frustrating so i won't even bother
awesome lineup
| |
lineup surprised me
| |
Lineup is amazing.
| |
Cunt, I was totally posting this.
| |
Mayday Parade, Foxy Shazam, Never Shout Never, Alesana, Asking Alexandria, A Skylit Drive, There For Tomorrow, Breathe Carolina, I See Stars, Rob Zombie,
Avenged Sevenfold, 30 Seconds To Mars, New Found Glory,
This makes me cry.
| |
I shall be there. was hoping for Tool but it will still rule
| |
some killer
some filler
| |
Not as good as previous years but still one of the better festivals out there I guess.
Kinda funny seeing High on Fire right below Never Shout Never.
| |
nice, will be going
| |
Keen to see Slayer and The Bronx
| |
waiting for gaslight anthem sideshow
| |
frigging slayer
| |
Holy shit.............
| |
Iron Maiden, Slash and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE! Big Day Out are gonna have some serious competition.
| |
lineup is fucking win
| |
Not really interested at all. A handful of decent bands, but even then, none of them are anywhere near the top of my 'must see' list.
| |
yeah i don't think it's that good either
then again, i don't listen to all that much metal
| |
I'm there just for Foxy
| |
nice line up
| |
some great some fucking awful
| |
Not quite as good as last year, but The Gaslight Anthem, Anberlin & Bayside make it still great. Plus, AJ almost always keeps a few aces up his sleeve for the 2nd announcement.
| |
Might have to come across the ditch for this one
| |
Border Security: Be Warned.
| |
Why you gotta break balls?
| |
It's an Oz-Kiwi thing. Nothing to do with rugby either.
| |

That's the thing when a festival lineup is announced though... People get disappointed when they don't see 20 bands they absolutely love. Of course, what they forget is they can only really see 10 bands on the day anyway.
| |

Yeah, sure haha. I'm not phased by your border security, i'm pretty sure I can dodge a boomerang
| |
That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
| |
Dev, didn't they have a SoundWave in NZ last year, or am I confusing with BDO?
| |
BDO dude
| |
They only send the gay festivals out of Australia, Davey. Supposedly Underoath is the big rumour band for the second announcement, Thrice seems to be a popular rumour too.
| |
Please Thrice please.
| |
Disappointing compared to the last few years, but still some good bands. C'mon Primus sideshow!
| |
No, I realise this Davey, I just don't care enough about these bands to fill up a day. I mean, tbh, Protest the Hero is probably the only one I would pay to go see normally anyway.
| |
Ok fuck it I'm going
| |
The Descendents are coming out in December and they're bringing an almost festival sized line up with them, far more exciting for me haha.
| |
Posted that before (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news.php?newsid=14890#lastpost). Excited for both.
| |
yeah the descendents news is fucking INCREDIBLE, need to get some money together for flights though
| |

Iron Maiden aren't cool anymore?
| |
news is borked for descendents
but holy shit descendents
| |
Iron Maiden aren't cool anymore? oh fuck i didn't even see iron maiden because it was right at the start just kinda went past it oh damn
| |
oh damn
| |
what's the Descendants news?
| |
Excited for these:
Gang Of Four, High On Fire, Breathe Carolina.
| |
The guessing game begins for who is apparently the 3rd headliner to be named in October. As naive as it sounds, my guess is Weezer... Belatedly!
| |
fuck weezer i'm hoping for streetlight manifesto or thrice
| |
possibly even brand new
| |
None of those would be headliners considering even Slash isn't considered one.
| |
shitballs I am there...
| |
Brand New would be lucky to continue existing next year, while I also hope it is Thrice but doubt they would be seen as more popular drawers over Slayer.
| |
You know, the crowd is going to be 60% scene kids, 38% old schoolers and 2% randoms.
| |

Thrice were the headliners in 2007.
You know, the crowd is going to be 60% scene kids, 38% old schoolers and 2% randoms.
I disagree, with scene kids becoming more and more extinct and the major acts being bands scenesters aren't big on I see a sharp decrease. Rather the group I'm worried about is Nu-Metal fans and of course southern-cross/unit folk.
| |
i would be most scared of me
| |
fortunately i cant go
| |
Lineup looks incredible
| |
I'm not too bothered by what type of crowd is there (especially since I stay away from the metal stage), as long as there aren't too many tickets sold. The last 2 years has been really comfortable - unlike a certain other festival that occurs a month before-hand.
| |
Where the fuck have you been living Palace, if you think scene kids are becoming more or less extinct? They were still the majority at this years soundwave.
And yeah, I know they headlined in 07, but the festival has become a fuck tonne bigger since then.
| |
Where the fuck have you been living Palace, if you think scene kids are becoming more or less extinct?
Perth. They are dying out, back in 2005 I couldn't walk through the city without seeing upwards of 100 of the pseudo-goth cunts. These days it's all girls in leggings, dresses that look like they're made with dental floss and generally whoring it up. Scene is much less popular than it used to be, I saw more bro's and southern cross fags last year than I saw scenesters.
And yeah, I know they headlined in 07, but the festival has become a fuck tonne bigger since then.
Underoath were headliners in 09. I don't see how Thrice couldn't be the other headliner, having 3 metal bands would somewhat defeat Soundwave's policy on catering to everyone. Not to mention that Thrice is still huge, they sold out every stop on their 08 tour IIRC.
| |
Taylor still thinks his opinions are valued? Ok...
| |
Jermolajew.
| |
there is absolutely no way thrice would be above queens of the stone age on a bill like this. slayer are a WAY bigger band than thrice and they're not even one of the headliners, so...
and lmao, underoath weren't a headliner in '09
| |
Yeah PoW, while Underoath were on the main stage, they were like mid-afternoon. Just after Forever the Sickest Kids if memory serves me correct. LOL.
| |
Yeah, they definitely did not headline. NIN and Lamb of God (shoulda been In Flames gah) were the headliners that festival.
And scene is still huge. The fashions change, but its still the same shit. And when you look at the bands, the overwhelming majority of the lesser ones are scene.
| |
This whole scene kid/scenester thing amuses me. Like by everybody's definition of them they're all over NZ but no one give a shit
| |
SW + Descendents fest + Sunset Sounds/Falls = amazing week for Australian music lovers.
| |
Unfortunately the actual existence of the Descendents festival is debatable since their website is the only one to mention it.
| |
Both Joey Cape & Fat Mike said they would be in Australia in December. And when AJ was asked about Parkway Drive he said they have plans for December, so it looks promising.
| |
and lmao, underoath weren't a headliner in '09
Well technically NIN was the major act. But I generally consider any band on the mainstage with bigger text on the posters being a sub-headliner. I mean Iron Maiden is technically the only headliner at the festival, FNM was the only one last year, I figure the second announcement pertains to a bigger band but not one who shares the main spot with Iron Maiden, seeing as that's never been done.
Yeah PoW, while Underoath were on the main stage, they were like mid-afternoon. Just after Forever the Sickest Kids if memory serves me correct.
see above, also ugh FtSK was on the main stage at yours? Either I blocked that out or it changed here.
Yeah, they definitely did not headline. NIN and Lamb of God (shoulda been In Flames gah) were the headliners that festival.
Dude Lamb of God weren't even on the main stage, by that definition A Day To Remember was a headliner last year.
| |
Wasn't Trivium the "metal stage" headliner?
| |
No, A Day to Remember was. And the metal stage is the second biggest stage, thus second headliner. That's how I took it as anyway.
| |
They will do the same next year too. Some middle of the road (not really metal) band will "headline" the metal stage so as not to cause a mass riot with an Iron Maiden clash.
| |
I thought Trivium had the longest set time on the Metal stage?
| |
yeah trivium were the metal stage headliners, a day to remember just closed the stage
| |
"They will do the same next year too. Some middle of the road (not really metal) band will "headline" the metal stage so as not to cause a mass riot with an Iron Maiden clash."
haha I would probably kill myself if Iron Maiden and Queens of the stone age played at the same time.
| |
Don't be silly. QOTSA will be on just before them on the main stage. If anything, QOTSA will clash with Slayer.
| |
idc about previous years mang. GASLIGHT FUCKING ANTHEM.
| |
"GASLIGHT FUCKING ANTHEM."
x2
| |
Am seriously contemplating invading your fine country for this festival
| |
I so do not get the hype around Gaslight Anthem. Just middle of the road rock tunes.
| |
If anything, QOTSA will clash with Slayer. if this happens it's your fault and fuck you in advance
| |
I should probably look into some of these other bands...
| |
That other festival is true.
Lineup: Megadeth, Descendents, NOFX, Dropkick Murphys, Parkway Drive, A Day to Remember, Gwar, Atreyu, Alkaline Trio, Frenzal Rhomb, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Suicide Silence, August Burns Red, Katatonia, 3 Inches of Blood, We Came As Romans, House Vs Hurricane, Break Even, Heroes For Hire & Confession
| |
Better than Soundwave.
| |
Descendents, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Frenzal Rhomb, August Burns Red, Katatonia
only ones i would even bother seeing, and descendents are the only one i'd bother paying money for. not sure if want.
| |
would see Descendents (obviously), NOFX, Gwar, August Burns Red, Katatonia, 3 Inches of Blood and Break Even (although they play here every couple of months anyway)
shame that half of those bands AREN'T EVEN FUCKING DOING PERTH, jesus h. christ that's annoying
| |
also tix are $140 which is pretty lolworthy
| |
Cheaper than Soundwave and more bands I would see. It wins for me *shrug*
| |
i love how it says your name is "Captain No" in the comments section
| |
I hate it because it just gives Atavan more fuel.
| |
OMG I wish I could go!!! Awesome line up.
| |
Why don't you then? Unless you're in melbourne where it's sold out.
| |
I'm very much looking foward to this.
The Gaslight anthem/Iron Maiden clash is going to kill me though. Probably going to pick Maiden. Still, Saxon (lol), Gang of Four, Social Distortion, Slash and Queens of the Stone age are looking good!
| |
It sounds like we won't be crossing paths a lot Croc.
| |
haha who are you seeing?
| |
I haven't got my whole day planned out as yet, but it will definitely end with The Gaslight Anthem. If the A7X replacement is no good, it will be Mayday Parade before them. Bayside, Anberlin & We The Kings are early bands I'll catch. Will probably leave it until the day with the late arvo semi-clashes of 30StM, Sum 41, Slash & Foxy Shazam. Might even do half-sets, which I usually don't like.
| |
Yeah I was thinking of catching Gaslight and then catching the last hour of Maiden but I don't think I could bring myself to do it. I DO love Gaslight though...
| |
Some good bands on there, some awful bands on there.
| |
