They decided not to release Eros and start from scratch because Chino said touring with that album would remind him too much of Chi and that not until he's better would they even think of releasing it. I'm so stoked for this.

Either way I'm ridiculously pumped for this (albeit saddened by the once-again-delayed release date). Diamond Eyes is a little cheesy, but I have a feeling once I hear the album it will all make sense and begin to grow on me in typical Deftones fashion.

I love when Terry Date produces Deftones albums.. SNW, while amazing, is not in my top 3 records by the 'tones (White Pony, self-titled, Adrenaline in that order). Either way, Diamond Eyes should be pretty epic.

Eros will still get released at some point (it better anyway. I mean, they're never going to get Chi back. He's been in a coma for well over a year now, it sucks to admit it but even if he does wake up, he'll likely have severe brain damage).

And yeah, you listening to them longer means nothing just that you have an attachment to the stuff you got into first. So I understand your love of adrenaline but self-titled? I don't get that at all. There's no tension, no real emotional impact from it. (For me anyway).

Captain North: yeah, I understand what you mean in releation to self-titled sorta, but that one's less sentimental and more just awesome. It took awhile to grow on me (songs like Hexagram, GMB, WGTB etc. didn't hit me on the first few listens). That albums all about the eerie atmosphere mixed with crushing heaviness for me (see Battle Axe and Deathblow -- two of the best songs Deftones have ever written). I dunno, agree to disagree? A whale's vagina?

But seriously, you're more of a SNW guy and I'm more of a s/t guy, I think that's a distinction that's fairly common among Deftones fans.

This was a good album guys it's nice to reflect on life before Diamond Eyes right? Things looked just a bit dimmer before then. Being the original one who bumped this since it's last comment in 2010 I can testify it was already featured in the most viewed so I also was tricked by this hanging out in a section it shouldn't be in.
