I accidentally end up listening to good Christian bands all the time. So have they removed the songs and said it was a joke yet?

Good Christian bands: Becoming The Archetype, Mortification, Advent, August Burns Red, Extol, Life In Your Way, UnderOath (debatable), Woe Of Tyrants, and Zao (not debatable)

The breakdown was very unlike them. But Nick's vocals got better, and at least this album isn't super autotuned, like Dawn of My Death was =/

^ This might just be me, but I could've swore the vocals on the first track had the shit produced out of them. They made me turn it off immediately. God damn. I don't even know if I'll even listen to this ever. Wouldn't want to ruin the memory of their good stuff.

do you think Sturgis is producing again?

shortone323
January 21st 2010

Most likely. Not too knowledgeable with this sort of things, but the 10 seconds I heard reminded me of the We Came as Romans overproduced vocals somewhat. And they're on Rise.

But honestly I really don't remember this because I was really high when I listened and the second I heard the vocals I turned it off. One of the best decisions I made last night haha.

ha, Sturgis also produced the Romans album you speak of. no doubt he's featured on this then.

Yea I know all about his involvement in We Came as Romans haha. Wow. Turns out he produced their first album(where the production was great) and their second too. It looks like the trendy style has changed over the course of the years. Guy's not a bad producer, but this new style really sucks and kills any of the originality the bands that suffer from it had.

Few bands / albums where he didn't do this(as per Wikipedia): both the For the Fallen Dreams (not that it was really possible here haha) Settle the Sky's debut, The Color Morale, The Crimson Armada and Woe of Tyrants. None of those suffered from the crap WCAR of BTE's newest albums did.

By the way, Bloc, have you ever listened to Settle the Sky? I've noticed you've listened to a good amount of related stuff and they are, in my opinion, one of the best bands out there in the scene right now.

tl;dr

just kidding.

you mentioned how he takes out any originality of the band, and that is actually why he is disliked. he's known to make the most out of nothing, which is nice, but once the soul of the band is gone it makes no difference.

haha, i also got that list from Wiki. most of it, i could tell before even looking that it was Sturgis doing production. what really surprised me was the Woes of tyrant album because it obviously wasn't post-hardcore and the fact that it wasn't on Rise records. in all seriousness, i swear every Rise band has one record produced by him.

never heard of Settle the Sky, but i'll give them a listen. thanks for the rec.

tl; dr yourself

But yea Settle the Sky is really good. Check out my review for a pretty good look at their EP. They have 2 new songs up as well that are pretty sick, so at least one of my favorite bands isn't self destructing this year.

So....Before their eyes has gone the route of giving the scene kids exactly what they want. Boys like
girls copycatting little cunts that end up ruining a good bands sound.. sad really

edit: If you take the fact that BTE used to be 'heavy' then this isn't a horrible set of songs. but if
you are looking at this in the sense that these kids wrote some good tracks..well then it ruins it.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Seriously, I thought shortone was just being a dick with his first comment, but I love Before Their Eyes. Sing to Me is god awful. Bulletproof is awful. It's generic, the harsh vocals are bad, and the lyrics are bad. The guitars are boring.

Oh god. I think I'm gonna be sick. I was so excited by this news title.

Pirate Squid stfu. And DWitt, I am (was) a huge Before Their Eyes fan and was nothing short of insanely excited for this when I saw they were going to be posting new stuff. Then I listened to it. And my first post was my high attempt at saving everyone else from having to listen to it. Guess it didn't work because this thread is full of disappointment.

Why are you such a douche? Seriously, I'm fine with "Oh I don't like this, it's not my thing" but you consistently insist on trolling practically anything that could be considered "generic post-hardcore" and being a dick. This one mime gave me what is probably some of the best advice ever: "if you don't like it, you can leave." And then I did. Try it some time. Go comment on something you actually like you tool.
