Going by the lead single, the music is a little different... but Stockdale is still Stockdale.

I liked their first album for the most part and almost wrote off this album after hearing "New Moon Rising", but I'm pretty surprised at how good this is. Might have to get this now.

Ive never been a very big wolfmother fan personally. They feel like a zeppelin cover band to me half the time.

The first song had some pretty fun riffs, new moon rising is almost lame though. I'll probably give this album a shot after I bother with Grinspoon's new one as i've just discovered they're awesome again.

Aussie rock ftw!

It's hit or miss, i'll give you that. But when you find the gems they are arguably better than most american or brit rock.

I dunno, bands like The Living End, Karnivool etc are arguably better than alot of the shit that gets thrown on radio nowardays.

"i fucking hate genres sometimes. because you get bullshit like that ^"

"Once you hit 12 you'll start to realise the importance of genres."

yeah of course its important to have genres, but differentiating by saying stuff like "this is art/prog rather than art/indie/alternative" or "this isnt hardcore its metallic hardcore" is so fucking dumb.

I agree with que4. but honestly who the hell are you people?

qwe4

yeah i know what you mean Palace, but you gotta consider that there are people who will bitch over the amount of "metal" in different forms of hardcore etc. converge is a prime example. some call them mathcore, some call them metalcore, and some call them hardcore. this is what pisses me off about genres, people overuse them, argue over them and confuse them so that in the end theyre more of a hindrance than a help when categorizing or finding similar music etc.

Secret Wolfmother fans. They just bash them to try and be cool. Lol at the genre thing too, LETS HAVE NO GENRE'S. YEAH? I HATE FINDING BANDS THAT SOUND SIMILAR TO WHAT I LIKE.

I agree with you. I wouldn't listen by choice. Just talking about the genre thing mostly.

The first part of my comment was to Alligator.

EDIT: Last statement by qwe is correct though.

i never said get rid of genres, i was saying that people "over-genreize" things if you get what i mean. it's unneccessary. i also find it's easier to ask people "i like these bands, what dyou think i would like?" especially on this site

I think genres are important to an extent. It's when all these subgenres come into play when it starts to get a little bit ridiculous and, in all honesty, pretentious. Certain artists try to fit within a category or 'scene' and that's when you end up with an obscene amalgamation of genres that they try to conform to.

As for the Wolfmother album...hmmm...
