his songwriting has gotten so minimalist. i love this band but their new stuff takes sooo long to grow on me.

^I obviously haven't heard the record but remember these are live tracks so of course they aren't gonna have production. I doubt that there new stuff is as minimalist as these live clips are suggesting.
For myself though I wouldn't mind if the new record ended up this way.

like the whole thing that makes this band so important to me is the nostalgia of being back in highschool when i would play drunken acoustic versions of almost all of deja and YFW with my friends cause they were like freakin anthems. i dont feel like i can do that with the new songs. i guess theyve just gotten more mature i didnt. its cool, ill still buy every record they ever put out.

I'm more of a fan of TDAGARIM Brand New.
It could be because I don't have those memories, with me being an immature 16, but I didn't find DE that amazing.
On the other hand TDAGARIM is a classic.

it is classic but the first time i heard it i was like where the fuck are all the catchy ass choruses!? i really wanted them to make good produced versions of the demo songs, some of which i still think are better then all the TDAGARIM songs (minus archers and not the sun which i loved immediately).
it took like 15 listens before i loved the whole thing. if the new album is anything like these clips its gonna take a bit to really sink in.

I once read some band or something in Kerrang! saying they love Jets to Brazil (and their previous band) because their albums grew with their music taste - that's how I feel about Brand New...

I acually got TDAGARIM first after hearing The Quite Things That No One Ever amd some other songs, nothing from the acual record itself... I don't remember why I bought it haha.
I remember it sitting on my nightstand for the longest time before I acually started enjoying it as a record. It was about 2 years after until I realized that it was a classic.

There was potential for a clever news title, but it was not to be.

i like the time signature a lot. can't hear it well enough to judge it properly, but it sounds awesome.

Dustin is obviously the physical force in the matchup, but Lacey has a sort of quiet rage about him that you'd be worried that even if you did win, he'd break into your house later that night and spike chain your eyes out.

is this just based on their physcial attributes? though i think jesse is the better musician, dustin could probably kick his ass.

but jesse has both the devil and god raging inside him, that could be intimidating.

jesse would probably use more boxing/kickboxing techniques with his wiry frame, whereas dustin would be more of a grappler/wrestler in my mind. it's anyones fight, dustin seems more a man of the world, so he'd have that whole mystical skill thing about him, whereas jesse is more street and would have fashioned his own style from the style's he's encountered on the streets.

either way, i can't see this fight going the distance. too much raw power from dustin and too much aggression from lacey to keep it technical.
