Despite them being shite now, some of the old stuf is quite difficult to play on bass and drums. Only the new stuf is quite slow and simple. Will never touch this game however, and people should learn a real instrument.

I already play a real guitar, as does almost every person I know that plays guitar hero or rock band. And just because you think it is unrewarding compared to a different kind of game is meaningless because judging by the sales of these games, plenty of people disagree with you.
And besides, if I’m going out to the bar with a bunch of friends, drinking some beers and playing “Man in the Box” on rock band before we go is far more fun than playing Oblivion.
Again, if people find fun in something, especially if it’s just a video game, let them do it and quit trying to rationalize why you disagree with it.

That's cool, I know plenty of people who play GH/RB obsessively and memorize patterns. how else do people do those tapping things?

I was just explaining why I don't enjoy playing it often and why I think even if it sparks interest in playing instruments and causes people to try to play real guitar that's kind of an irrelevant stat. the point for me is that the time spent getting good at GH to me has never been worth it (PLEASE NOTE I GUESS I'M TALKING ABOUT ME PERSONALLY NOT YOU)

It is a murder game a la Manhunt. You play as one of the members of Carcass. The objective of the game is to kidnap the members of Green Day and torture them to death, using Carcass songs (like Genital Grinder, Carbonized Eyesockets or Frenzied Detruncation) as guidelines.

I played a real guitar for years before I played my first Guitar Hero game (Guitar Hero 3), but so long as its enjoyable and actually seems to be getting people into playing an actual guitar I see no problem with games like it.
