Bono & The Edge Do Spider-Man 2009-06-10 by Lestrade | 19 Replies | 889 Views |
Everyone knows the story of Peter Parker and his sticky secret. In one way or another, we can all relate to him.
"Every rock & roll star probably started out as the geek who got bullied on in school, and eventually their form of revenge was to write songs or learn to play guitar. I was more of a Green Goblin, " U2 frontman jokes alongside guitarist, The Edge. A video interview shows the pair talking about their upcoming broadway musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.
Bono and The Edge have written the music and lyrics for the musical which opens on February 18th, 2010.
Bono shares, "We were open to the idea of musical theater, but Spider-Man, that’s a different thing again, because that’s comic books, and there’s a whole series of relations between punk rock and rock bands and comic books, that goes back years."
The U2 couple wanted to "to mess with all these aspects of pop culture, put them in a blender and see what comes out on the other end."
No casting has been officially announced, but it's rumored that long-time broadway star Alan Cumming will be playing the role of the Green Goblin.

I think he's an awesome guitarist, lots of flow and great tone. His writing isn't the best, but hey, why nitpick.
I want to see this, if only for the laughs, but it would be in New York. Hmph.

The Edge is a very economical guitar player, this is not a bad thing.
