Four Year Strong Cover Album

2009-05-18 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 20 Comments
Massachusetts post-hardcore outfit Four Year Strong will release their first covers album, Explains It All, on July 21 via I Surrender/Decaydence Records.

The follow-up to the group's 2007 debut Rise Or Die Trying, Explains It All is a tribute to all of the band's favourite '90s classics, and is set to feature cameos from Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy, Every Time I Die's Keith Buckley, as well as JR and Buddy from Gainesville ska-punks Less Than Jake.

Explained the band: "We’ve always loved the 90’s. Pogs, “The Sandlot”, bowl cuts, “The Mighty Ducks”, JNCO jeans, “Full House”, Goosebumps books, Airwalks, “Home Alone”, the list goes on forever.

"Most importantly, there was the music.

"It’s what we grew up listening to. Everyone has those songs that instantly transport you back to when you were younger. Whether we were in our bedrooms playing air guitar, or riding in the car to little league practice, or it was just that song that was all over the radio during that awesome summer at the Cape. These songs have impacted us in some way and we want to share that feeling with you.

"And so, we are proud to present Four Year Strong Explains It All. We've recorded some of our favorite songs from the 90s and this is our opportunity to show you guys some of the influences that helped make Four Year Strong what it is. "

This band has the potential to be good. Too bad every song on their first CD was basically the same.

Maybe they should work on an orignal album before doing this.

This band is really not too talented at all. They have written two or three good songs, surrounded them with garbage and basically came into the market at the right time when the whole "bro-down pop punk" was at a selling and trendy peak. Their cover on punk goes pop sucked. Meh.

i must agree this is a stupid idea for a band with one record to come up with, but nevertheless four year strong has definitely a clear and powerful sound. They pull it off live too, all those massholes go nuts for it, really somethin cool to see.

If there's something worth the massholes going nuts for - it's A Day To Remember. They do this trend so much better than FYS, at least they have a degree of talent

I just can't wait to see the tracklist. I really want to know what songs are going to be on here. I hope the "you get knocked down, then you get up again," is on there. That is the song I always remember hearing in the 90s.

Agree with Balls on this, the 90's were fucking amazing. If they do this in the right way, it will own. Definitely.

They should concentrate on themselves instead of the 90s
