Chimaira: New Album Stream 2009-04-15 by Stephen Abootman | 60 Replies | 1262 Views |
Chimaira's forthcoming fifth album The Infection will be available to stream in it's entirety on April 16th and 17th on the band's myspace.
The stream is described by vocalist Mark Hunter as a reward to fans and for the non-leaking of the album by those who received early copies:
Quote:
The Infection is coming out in less than a week and we find ourselves in a position that, in this day and age, is unique. With only six days until The Infection is released, our album has yet to leak on the internet. We would like to thank all of those who had their hands on the album that could have leaked our record but did not. The fact that this did not happen gives the album something that doesn’t exist for new releases these days: anticipation.
To our great fans, we want to ask for your help with reaching a goal. With each subsequent Chimaira release after Pass Out Of Existence, we’ve been able to outsell the previous record’s first week sales. In an era of downloaded music and an overall diminished market for CD sales, we want to ask our fans to help us continue the trend of higher first week sales by going out and picking up The Infection in its first week.
As a way to get all of you to stop foaming at the mouth in anticipation, we want to say an early “thank you” by streaming the entire record on our Myspace tomorrow. We hope that you will hear the new stuff, love it as much as we do, and be inspired to go out and pick it up in the first week and make a statement for heavy music.

The Infection, produced Ben Shigel, is set for release on April 21st in the US and on April 24th in Europe via Ferret Records and Nuclear Blast Records respectively.
The band also recently filmed a video for the single "Destroy and Dominate" which will debut online later this month.
A trailer for the DVD of the band's recording process, which comes with the special edition of the album, has also been posted online:

Mmm, well Secrets Of The Dead was a grower for me and Destroy and Dominate is ok. Looking forward to hearing the rest, especially the instrumental and The Venom Inside.

Hey, smart guy. Why don't you stop jerking off and use both your hands to stalk my profile and see what I rated their self-titled album and their first DVD.
|
| |
dw i did. Whilst still jacking off.
That's still 75% of their discography and therefore voids your opinion.

75% of their discography is good though. And dude, you have GOT to show me how to jerk off like that.

I bet someone is going to tape the stream and leak it.
|
| |
Okay...so far on first listen it's really not that great. The break downs feel out of time and the vocals are pretty bad. The best sections are the atmospheric interludes.
EDIT: Oh, right, that was only a few songs. 16th as in America 16th, not Australia 16th. Stoopid timezones. This Message Edited On 04.15.09

The Venom Inside is damn good

i'm liking this a helluva lot more than i thought i would, but this is definitely going to be a grower. the vocals are... eh

Definately not a fan. After listening to all the tracks the only thing that seemed worth remembering were the verse of TVI and the atmosphere of the quieter parts of Impending Doom.
Vocals sound nothing short of terrible (higher pitched overlays don't work for this music guys), guitars rehash the same old riffs we've all gotten used to by now. Sounds like the stuff me and my friends come up with when we're parodying metal or plain without inspiration. Sorry Chimaira, not this time.
|
| |
Sick. Will listen to this later. I've been getting back into Resurrection again lately and used to love IOR back in the day.
Digging: Jesu - Silver

Eurgh, disappointed.
The synths and instrumental interlude parts work well, but the vocals just don't fit with the slower riffs.
Still reviewing it though. This Message Edited On 04.16.09

I found it pretty boring. There just wasn't really anything memorable about it. Might try again later.

I've been anticipating this for a while now, but I'm in class and can't listen to it. Damn.
|
| |
We'll see how this turns out. Im not anticipating much, but I always got into their albums in one way or another (except pass out, which sucked bad). S/T Chimaira is fucking awesome!
|
| |
It almost sounds like a different band entirely because of the radical change in vocal style, although maybe that's just the way the sounds were mixed. The tracks still deliver but I can't see myself listening to this more than once all the way through.
|
| |
pretty damn good

i thought the vocals were awesome for a metalcore band.

This is growing on me. A lot. It's around a 3.5/4, no doubt.
|

Good album so far, don't or actually never ehard any metalcore in Chimaira.
|
| |
band bores me. will not investigate further.

Band is pretty boring.

Band is bro. They put on a sick live show and Mark Hunter is the definition of B.A.M.F.
|
| |
i've seen em live twice and each time i couldn't wait for their set to end. band is bro indeed.
|
| |
Pretty sic so far maybe 3-3.5
not particularly boring.
So what are these guys? Metalcore? Melodic death metal?
|
| |
I'm just partial to these guys since Chimaira was one of the first bands to pull me into metal. Around the time Pass Out Of existence came out really, Pure Hatred was one of the most brutal pits i've ever been in. I wasn't too happy at first to read that Chimaira was slowing down the pace on this album, because they pen some pit stirring anthems. Maybe I could just bang my head in a slow, circular motion to this. Not sure if it's just myspace but the song production is grittier and dirtier than NYTHING ELSE THEY'VE DONE. cANT WAIT FOR THIS TO DROP AT 8.99.
This sound spure groove metal tbh, I never heard enough hardcore in their sound to deem them metalcore. This Message Edited On 04.16.09

Is it too gruff for you?
|
| |
Well, I suppose i'll go ahead and post a review for this sometime soon. Stuck at a 3.6. Good, solid fun for the whole family.
|
| |
I guess I'll have to write a review first just to piss you off.
|
| |
yeah vox are 2 gruff for me
|
| |
I figured you would be like all br00tal cuz of all the doom doom n stuff you were listening to but I guess if its to gruff for you, you'll just have to leave it to the hardcore kidz like me.
|
| |
Pretty dick of you zippermout but I accept the challenge.
|
| |
yeah i dont like gruff screaming and shiz i like proper singing like iron maiden and the priest but i like to diversify you know i listen heaps of different other bands like green day and the living end
|
| |
Yeah, banking on a probable 3.5. I'm impressed.
And damn, the last thing I want to see is a Florida Marlins avatar. Woe is me for being a Braves fan.
|
| |
Sorry man, but it was all Fish these three days. But I was happy to see Jeff Franceour hitting the ball well. i like that guy, and last season was horrendous. He keeps hitting the way he's doing and he just might end up as comeback player of the year.
|
| |
more like go white sox.
I like this album. Def a rebound from Res.
|
| |
I like it more the second time around. Nothing as hard hitting as Resurrection, Killing the Beast or The Flame, but still decent. Vocals aren't as good though.
|
| |
self titled album was the best.
