Wait, what?
He's in a coma but he's talking and responding to people?
|
| |
i would have thought that the bassist of the deftones would have enough money to pay for his hospital stay =/
|
| |
Yeah, he's not in a coma if he's saying words and responding to commands... maybe a vegetative state is what they mean?
|
| |
In the Glasgow Coma Scale, there are different levels of consciousness. Responding to commands can mean anything from squeezing a hand to blinking eyes to moving limbs, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's completely conscious.
If he was in a vegatative state, he wouldn't be responsive whatsoever and probably would have been taken off life support by now.

| |
i don't know why they'd ask for money if they had plenty to go around.

ZooYorker6, I know what you're saying, but technically Terry Schiavo was in a vegetative state, but she could respond to people. A vegetative state can range anywhere from being in a coma to being conscious, the kicker is that you cannot support yourself in any way shape or form and you need life support to live. His "vegetative state" may not be permanent, but from what I understood about comas, responses to commands are not one of them (although I could be totally wrong).

You would be surprised at how little money real musicians make.
True, but these are popular international musicians, not 'real musicians'.

Chicken Soup should do the trick

And most of their fans are aware of how the internet works.

A four day stay in a hospital for me was $17,000 dollars. I had a broken pelvis. This dude is on life support. Guessing it costs him a minimum of $4000 a day - which is probably low-balling it - he's racked up almost $400,000 in hospital bills, and like I said, it's probably a LOT higher than that. So donating $10-20 isn't going to kill you, cheapasses.

as much as id like to, i wouldnt donate. this band is pretty big and while hospital bills are high, im sure they have enough to pay for it between him, the band members, his mgmt team, etc. with all the scams going around, who knows who's actually collecting this money and where its going, and what % actually goes to chi...

Further proof that the American health system is fucked.

thread is starting to reek of tl;dr
poor Cheng, i suppose it's an active way of fans showing their appreciation.

2 weeks in the hospital (with 5 days of Intensive Care, which I assume is more expensive) was $125,000. Thankfully I have badass insurance. Medical care is crazy expensive, donating would be a decent thing to do.

Or get a National Health Service where healthcare is free.
