The Cramps lose frontman

2009-02-04 by AtavanHalen | 6 Comments
Music blogs around the world including Limewire.com are reporting the death of legendary Cramps frontman Lux Interior. The only source thus far to reference an official statement (reportedly released by Girlie Action – The Cramps media representatives) is themusicisover.com. It reads: “Lux Interior, lead singer of The Cramps, passed away this morning due to an existing heart condition at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, California at 4:30 AM PST today.”

Lux, aged 52, was one of the bands founding members and central to creating The Cramps infamous sound – a fusion of punk and rockabilly, that would go on to influence countless bands for decades to come. He and his wife Poison Ivy have continued to release music and tour as The Cramps for over thirty years and there was hope that would return to Australia for a tour in conjunction with the re-release of 79 mini album Gravest Hits.

This is the end of an era. Lux has gone on to that drugged up nightclub in the sky.

I'm going to put on my Cramps albums in mourning.
