Good News for Queensryche Fans

2009-02-04 by Trey STAFF | 13 Comments
The news from the Queensryche camp just keeps getting better. The flow of good news began when the band released details about their upcoming album, American Soldier. The band announced that it is going to be another concept album, but this time a true story about soldiers and their experiences. The band goes as far as to include actual soldiers talking about their experiences on the songs themselves. On one track, “Home Again”, the vocalist does a duet with his 10-year old daughter, which examines the emotional toll of war from two perspectives. Geoff Tate sings from the soldier's point of view and his daughter sings from the viewpoint of the child left behind.

Soon after that, the album artwork and track list was revealed along with a release date of March 31st. Along with that information was the message from original guitarist Michael Wilton that stated that all the guitars were recorded solely by him so that “it should sound more like the original RYCHE.”

Now in the latest news, replacement guitarist Mike Stone has quit Queensryche to focus on his radio-rock band, Speed X. This is good news because Mike Stone was widely regarded as a sub-par replacement for original guitarist Chris DeGarmo. This news leaves the door wide open for a suitable replacement, finally.

Tracklist:

01. Sliver
02. Unafraid
03. Hundred Mile Stare
04. At 30,000 Ft.
05. A Dead Man's Words
06. The Killer
07. Middle Of Hell
08. If I Were King
09. Man Down!
10. Remember Me
11. Home Again
12. The Voice

I used "fans" in the plural because I still like this band and there has to be at least one more person who is actively interested in them.

I honestly have high hopes for this album, and that hasn't happened since "Hear in the Now Frontier" dick-smacked me across the forehead. This Message Edited On 02.04.09

I love Mindcrime, and Empire wasn't very good. However I'm gonna buy this in the hope that it sounds epic.

You're missing "Promised Land" which was like a modern version of their "Rage for Order" album. Dark, moody and kind of experimental.

Yeah, it has been a long time. If this album isn't any better than their last four (holy shit, there's been that many) than I give up.

This is great news, I've always loved Queensryche. I didn't even know they were releasing a new album.

message from original guitarist Michael Wilton that stated that all the guitars were recorded solely by him so that “it should sound more like the original RYCHE.”

Sweet. I just hope this is a good concept album, nothing political. Politics and military makes me fucking sick.

I've only heard Operation Mindcrime, and i've had it for like almost 2 years. I'll def check this out but it sounds oerly pretentious and the album art is kinda wack.

Are any of their albums besides Mindcrime worth getting? I almost got their self-titled a while ago, Queen of the Reich is a sick song.

Who cares if it's another concept album. It's also about many different soldiers from many different wars. How you can decide it's bad based off of that little bit of info is probably the same way you decided that the entire Lil Wayne discography needed 1's and Eminem needed 5's.

Bodom: Rage for Order and Promised Land are worth getting... and although many seem to disagree, so is Empire. This Message Edited On 02.05.09
