Eno kicks Martin out of studio

2009-02-02 by Iai EMERITUS | 17 Comments
Chris Martin has told Absolute Radio that the band's producer, Brian Eno, has taken the bold step of not allowing him to take part in their next phase of recording, as they begin working on the follow-up to last year's Viva La Vida.

Martin revealed to Absolute Radio that "[in a] letter to all of us he said that he thought the last album was OK, but it could have been much better. He said that he still wanted to work with us on the next album but that I was banned from the studio! He said that it would be better without me for the first two weeks - 'You can do better without the singer'! He said. It has turned out to be a good idea though because the band's been free to try out loads of weird things without me getting in the way."

One suspects Eno learned well from his adventures with U2.

Martin is apparently using the spare time to collaborate with other artists, as he did during his last period of downtime - that time it resulted in an appearance on Kanye West's Graduation album, and the Martin-written hits "Gravity" and "See It In A Boy's Eyes", for Embrace and Jamelia respectively.

Yeah, it is good to see that no matter how big or popular a band is they actually listen to what others say. Just thought I may put in the comment before anyone and hopefully it shuts up a few ppl as the obligitary comments on Coldplay are posted.

Problem is, Viva la Vida WAS amazing so Eno better follow up his actions with something minblowing! I'm sure he will.

What I like the most about this is that Martin took it like a man. Which is more than could be said for what most rockstars would do.

^^this.

The article title makes it sound like it was a nasty, contentious thing. But it looks like Martin's taking it in stride. Indicating to me once again that he's not as much of a jerk-off as everyone says he is.

Martin always seemed pretty cool, this proves it in my book.
