Drudkh Signs To Season Of Mist

2008-11-25 by BallsToTheWall | 28 Comments
Season of Mist is proud to announce the freshly inked deal the label signed with play Slavonic heathen metal band DRUDKH. Their cinematic, folk-influenced music focuses on a strong atmosphere with a lot of feeling, and the lyrical contents are about nature mysticism, seasons, philosophy, Ukrainian mythology, legends and history. Many of the band's lyrics are derived from the works of nineteenth and twentieth centuries Ukrainian poets.

DRUDKH decided to issue this one public statement only. They will also in future stick to their general rule, which means that DRUDKH will not be giving interviews nor make use of any internet platform:

"During all its history, the band followed a 'no photos, no interviews, no website, no gigs' policy, which was nobly accepted by DRUDKH's new label Season of Mist. The absence of any comments or information from DRUDKH's side gave an opening to a few ignorant internet warrior-fans to spread rumors, that the band embraces some extreme political views. This is absolutely misleading and a total profanation, since there is nothing in DRUDKH's music or lyrics that would suggest any political outlook. DRUDKH praise individualism, self-improvement and estrangement from modern values."

DRUDKH's upcoming album, whose title will be announced shortly, is set to an early 2009 release.

A good label is boosted to a sick label now. The new album is my top priority of 2009 and although these guys hold a pretty extreme stance with their music, I'm just glad they have proper distribution withetheir music. Hopefully their back catalouge is a little more affordable than Amazon.

I wouldn't expect a pure classic rock listener to know anything outside of classic rock.

Estrangement is seriously one of my favorite records though it doesn't get that much love here (avg rating of 3.5) What's their best?

Blood In Our Wells and/or Autumn Aurora. Grief And Solitude for instrumental neo-folk.

Blood In Our Wells is most definitely their best. IMO Estrangement is one of their poorest.

Drudkh are one of the very few 'true' black metal bands who still consistently release brilliant material.

'Wind Of The Night Forest' is probably the most beautiful black metal song ever written.

Huzzah for drudkh!

Ok, they're quality and everything, but I've never known how to pronounce their name... I mean, what is it, Drook, or... Drud-kah? Or...... just Drud!?

Someone please help me out here! =)

Balls to the wall....you trip me out. Love the comment of sheathing your sword, we always need that mercy huh.

And to Audly, once you hear some Drudkh, you will never ponder the question of who they are because of their SICNESS! It's like crack, not butt crack, but like rock solid crack that you can't refuse. =====) Just kidding, but they can be addictive until the album that you are currently listening to is burned out for the time being. Give it a few months and then all is gravy.

With all seriousness, will Drukh ever tour? Of course it says that they play no gigs but I'm meditating that the statement wasn't true and am hoping someone can give me some hope here.

Also I pronounce their name as McP3000 does, "Drud-kh", however, I'm an ignorant american that knows nothing.
