The Strokes Set To Return

New York City hipsters The Strokes are on a hiatus, admits drummer Fabrizio Moretti, but they’re far from over. The ex-boyfriend of actress Drew Barrymore has revealed that the “Last Nite” outfit are planning on re-teaming this summer, to begin work on the follow-up to 2006’s First Impressions On Earth.

The band has “plans of meeting up all of us together in February to kind of start noodling around and stuff,” Moretti revealed on Friday 7 November, insisting the rockers are “all pals” after rumours that they band are on the verge of breaking up. “I never had anything to base that anxiety on, but it crossed my mind,” he confesses. “We all kinda knew we were just taking a bit of a break.”

Moretti meanwhile has been taking a break by recording with his new brand new outfit, Little Joy, a trio comprising of the drummer, girlfriend Binki Shapiro and Rodrigo Amarante of Brazil’s Los Hermanos. It’s “not a side project,” says Moretti, who also plays guitar, bass and piano on the band’s debut, out next month. “This would’ve been a side project had it been solely my songs and I was singing and I hired these guys. But it’s really a band that evolved into an honest kind of three-part beast, I guess you can say. And I would like to continue with it, even when I go back to the Strokes.”

Yeah, I'm with Adam here. The good stuff on their last cd was excellent... It was the fact that it was 2/3 filler that was the problem.

Sounds good to me. I would love to hear a blend between Is This It? and Impressions.
