dredg Album Update

2008-08-04 by Athom EMERITUS | 21 Comments
Dredg have updated their website with a new video documenting the recording process of their upcoming album and have given the following update about the potential release date

Quote:
We are now in our third week of recording with Matt Radosevich. We will be adding videos and news updates from here on out.

There will be a brief hiatus though to perform at the Outside Lands Festival in Golden Gate Park on August 23rd and a short European tour (see dates). We will be back in the studio immediately after that to complete the record so the video and news updates will resume then as well. As stated before, we are looking for a late January, early February release.

Finally. This has been in the works for awhile from what I understand. I eagerly await it's release.
However, as much as I loved Catch Without Arms, I'd rather see them change their musical direction again then continue with that style...

I've listened to a lot of tracks live and I'm a bit underwhelmed. Then again I didn't really like Catch Without Arms at first but it has sense grown on me. Nothing will top El Cielo unfortunately.

i love both El Cielo and Catch Without Arms, so im sure ill like the new album unless it just plain sucks. highly doubt that though. hopefully i dont have to wait too much longer for it

I really hope they don't continue CWA sound (even though its pretty much a given)

i mean, lietmotif's sound is just so original and good. and el cielo is very nice also

CWA grew on me but its nothing special

the new material is abysmal but apparently they're throwing a bunch of "exotic" instrumentation on it in the studio

It's going to be their worst album yet but I still have hope that it will be decent.

if their singer changes his style and actually emotes rather than the constant soaring, then this will have the chance to be good...CWA is kinda stinky as a whole but had some great tracks i'm thinking this will be worse but hopefully some tracks will still be solid...

good god you people are negative nancys. maybe some optimism or waiting until the album drops to make a judgement call?
that said, freedom of speech entitles each to his own. i love this band and i am confident they'll put out a quality record

I would have been like you, but I heard their new stuff during the Coachella performance and it scared me.

Even if it's their worst it will still probably be rather good.

not really because i liked his technique for leitmotif the most, then it was going downhill on el cielo, and now he has become mr. soar on CWA...pikachu town just ignored my CWA mention

Leitmotif is awesome, El Cielo is awesome, CWA isn't, and this doesn't sound good. THE END.
