Michael Jackson the Vegas Act?

2008-06-17 by DaveyBoy EMERITUS | 16 Comments
Pop superstar Michael Jackson looks set to re-launch his career – including his brand new album, due out in early ‘09 – as a Las Vegas regular.

According to investment firm Colony Capital, the “Thriller” star (who currently owes them over US$30 million) is in discussions with the company on how to earn back the their loan, which covered the near-loss of his Californian ranch, Neverland.

Colony Capital just happens to own a series of hotels, including Las Vegas’s famous Hilton, while also being a major shareholder in the Station Casinos chain – and now they want to install the singer in either one venue for 180 performances, or create a traveling “musical extravaganza” between their venues.

According to an interview in the Wall Street Journal, Capital CEO Tom Barrack admits, “We’ve been having discussions with Mr. Jackson about a recapitalisation and refinancing of Neverland in addition to various other business opportunities and mutual interests.”

The 49-year-old star has seen his career fall by the wayside after his successful legal battle against child molestation charges, and in 2006 was forced to refinance his $213 million stake in the Beatles song catalog in order to stay solvent.

Because the majority of the blame for why Michael is the way he is now simply does not lie with him.

If small children show up at the concert, we are all doomed.

it's sad because the once king of music/deeply troubled individual now is forced to gig in Las Vegas, the place where careers die.

RIP Michael, even though your career already died about 10 years ago.

he is a man of many faces, and his current one is inching closer and closer to sharing a dressing room with Burt Bacharach.

how the stars fall from grace. and it's true, Jackson used to be so huge and now he is performing B grade shows in Vegas, like some celebs when they don't know that their career has ended a long time ago.
