The Roots reveal new album

2008-03-19 by Iai EMERITUS | 9 Comments
A press release by Ahmir '?ueslove' Thompson of The Roots has revealed details of the new album by the hip-hop monolith. Entitled Rising Down, it will be a 'probably [their] most political album to date, dealing with addiction, nihilism, [and] hypocritical double standards in the prison system'. Thompson is at pains to point out, however, that it won't be a depressing offering. 'It's not a downer, as most people expect us to do.' The album is released on April 29th; tellingly, the anniversary of the riots that engulfed LA in the wake of the Rodney King trial.

Observe the tracklisting, and the number of guests. Among them is Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame, Common of 'I-used-to-be-awesome' fame, Mos Def of Hitchhiker's Guide fame, DJ Jazzy Jeff of 'every white guy's favourite DJ' fame, and Talib Kweli of non-fame.

Either that was a diss on Talib, or you are just pointing out that he has been underground...I sure hope its the latter.
