Deicide Contributes to War 2008-02-28 by Trey STAFF | 26 Comments | Gathered from evidence obtained through various reports, leaked interrogation logs and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, a list of the top 24 songs strategically used on military prisoners in Iraq was recently made public, according to Mother Jones magazine's website.
Among a list of such bands such as Eminem, Metallica and AC/DC (as well as Barney The Dinosaur), was Deicide, coming in at number one with the song "Fuck Your God" from 2004's "Scars Of The Crucifix".
When word of this info got to Deicide drummer Steve Asheim, the only thing he could really say was, "It's cool. If we're upto military standards of audio abuse, it makes me feel like Deicide's doing our part for the troops." Of course this moment is not the only history that Asheim has with the armed forces. "My dad was a marine, as were my uncle and grandfather," says the Deicide skinsman. "I didn't follow in their footsteps since I was so busy with the band thing, but I'm glad I was eventually able to contribute somehow."
Some of the tactical circumstances where prisoners may have heard "F**k Your God" include sleep deprivation and interrogation disorientation. While some may see this information as a shock, other readers of the source article have taken a slightly different view of the situation. Commented one reader of the source article, "Honestly, the Barney theme song is more disturbing than Deicide's 'F**k Your God'."

Why don't that put some Waking The Cadaver on there?
| | | Because Waking The Cadaver sucks.
| | | so do all of those other bands...
| | | I love it... it's like when they used Metal in the 80's to try to force out some Central American dictator...This Message Edited On 02.28.08
| | | Hahahahah thats amazing.

| | | Nice, Dethklok would be cool as well but Waking The Cadaver, fuck no.

If this is the case, how is the US army going to get the proper answers out of these supposed 'Terrorists' when it clearly says that some of these exposed individuals had interrogation disorientation? I don't understand.

Um I believe our laws don't allow us to torture our prisoners of war hahaha!
On another note, I would be blasting these guys cell blocks with Deicide night and day! This Message Edited On 02.28.08

I don't understand. I think you've misunderstood... "interrogation disorientation" means that you've clouded their mind with so much sensory overload and confusion that you break down their will and they become much more complacent... it doesn't mean that you literally confuse them so that they can't properly respond.
| | | AWESOME
| | | Interrogation is the stupidest thing ever anyway. It's pretty much a proven fact that you won't get a straight answer from the person you're torturing. All they will do is tell you what they think you want to hear so the pain will stop.
Anyway, this is a joke right?

Thats exactly what I meant. I know that if you force someone enough to admit something (using physical force or intimidation) that they will tell you what you want to hear, just to get out of that situation. I guess I should have worded it better with a little more detail!
I was reading something about interrogation methods done by the US. Pretty scary stuff!
| | | AMERICA FTW.

I was reading something about interrogation methods done by the US. Pretty scary stuff! What people seem to forget is that you have a much better chance of getting them to tell you the truth instead of just "what you want to hear" if they think something even worse will happen when they're found to be lying.
| | | First post ever! I had to register after seeing this. Kudos to Deicide! I am currently serving my seventh month here in Baghdad, we listen to death metal when we are out on patrol, its the perfect soundtrack for a war.
The interrogators are trained to spot lies, they will get whatever they want out of you. It's their job. And to anyone who thinks that playing music inhumane, do know that hadji would torture us and lob off out heads on television if given the chance. They've done it before.

Awesome man. Mind if I ask how things are going for our troops out there? I'll be joining the army, perhaps while the war is still going on.

I'm a bit skeptical that you are in actually serving over in Baghdad (alt. accounts plague this site), but for all intents and purposes of this post, I'll go ahead and believe you.
In that case, killer man. I'm joining once I get out of college. Thanks for doing what you do :thumb:
| | | Hey thanks guys, I've been surfing this site for a long time. I use the reviews from here to help me purchase new music, I must say I've never been dissapointed, so thank YOU guys. New music keeps me sane over here!
Bf hurricane and south_of_heaven, I won't try to act like a recruiter or sling a bunch of pro-war bull your way, but if your thinking about joining, there's nothing wrong with it. I will tell you this, deploying is the hardest part, especially if you have your own family. I don't have a wife or kids, but other soldiers in my platoon are terribly homesick. We are doing a 15 month tour and are only halfway through. But really man, it's just another job. We'll prolly get back to America before Metallica releases their new album, ha ha.
We figured out a way to wire our MP3 players into our radio headsets in our trucks. Listening to "Sound of Perseverance" while patrolling Baghdad.....kind feels a little empowering! Hooah!
| | | wow
| | | wartooth,
I throw respect your way for putting your life at risk to protect not only the US but democracy and freedom in general!

I don't plan to enlist - I'm attending West Point next year, so theres a strong chance of me ending up in the war on terror upon graduation.
| | | To the_wizard. This war isn't protecting the country or democracy, more like raping it. Whatever though it's all apart of a downward spiral that began some where back in the early 50's. Much respect to Wartooth though. Soldiers go to war to die, but anyone who enters the battle upon listening to metal has to be a fuckin warrior! You should check out Cannibal Corpse's latest, KILL.
| | | Dude, I already have "Kill"! Thanks though.
