New Destroy the Runner Album

2008-02-21 by ninjuice | 9 Comments
The metal band Destroy the Runner will release their sophomore album, I, Lucifer, on April 15. It will be the first with new vocalist Chad Ackerman, who has replaced Kyle Setter after his departure in late 2006.

A new song from the album, entitled "Mr. and Mrs. Cuckoldom", has been posted for streaming on the band's Myspace and Purevolume sites.

The good news - the new song isn't necessarily metalcore.
The bad news - it wasn't that great. In fact I can see most everyone here hating it.
Their debut was decent, but this....ugh. It could be horrible.

I can't say I hate the new song, but it just sounds like a weaker form of Lovehatehero. Their new album was ok, but the guitar riffs were repetitive. At least this new song is different, guitar-wise.

My thoughts almost exactly. What's really weird is I saw a youtube video of them live and this guy (maybe someone else if they've had more than one replacement vocalist) was just screaming, they had someone else do the clean singing. I remember it was on From The Red and that's about it.

If they shave often, style their hair a bit differently, and wear brighter colors and tighter pants I think I know where the hXc girl's myspace quotes will be coming from...

I personally love the new album. I cant quite grasp how everyone loves Saints, when it is merely a copy of any As I Lay Dying songs, and despise the new album. I, Lucifer is new, bold, and has amazing songs with amazing and significant lyrics. Chad Ackerman brought this band to a whole new level, and simple narrow minded metalheads just can't grasp the fact that bands just need to improve sometimes, and not sound like other bands out there. It is not fair for you to judge them because they aren't your standard metal anymore.
