Hey now, you're an all-star!
|
| |
Guess the years finally stopped coming
RIP
|
| |
RIP. Alcoholism really sucks.
|
| |
"Walkin' on the Sun" is actually a good song despite Smash Mouth's meme reputation
RIP
|
| |
I wanted to make a joke, but coming from a lifetime of experience, alcoholism really is a bitch. I’ve managed to moderate pretty well but it’s a disease that killed my father, multiple uncles, and my great grandmother who I never had the chance to meet.
I’ve seen some steps taken in society but we’re still a long way from acknowledging that it can be just as deadly as opiate addiction. And alcoholics don’t get the same kind of sympathy from what I’ve seen.
|
| |
RIP legend
|
| |
""Walkin' on the Sun" is actually a good song despite Smash Mouth's meme reputation"
Fush Yu Mang is a great album in general, and a lot more punk-oriented than Smash Mouth's later work. But I also have a soft spot for Astro Lounge
As someone who's struggled with alcoholism for most of my 20s, this one hits me hard. Addiction sucks so much
|
| |
Fush Yu Mang is awesome. I haven't stopped arguing that since it was released and I was a preteen. Legit RIP to this man, he was a huge voice in my childhood. Fush Yu Mang and Astro Lounge got a LOT of airplay for me and my friends and those days.
|
| |
liver failure is such a shitty way to go, hate he and his fam had to go through that
|
| |
lost my mom to the same shit. RIP brother
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
rip dude. had some jams.
|
| |
Damn...RIP
@Wildcardbitchesss thanks for sharing
also:
"And alcoholics don’t get the same kind of sympathy from what I’ve seen"
^absolutely agree
|
| |
Dang RIP
|
| |
RIP
|
| |
Was only the day before that he was confirmed to be in hospice care. But speaking from personal experience losing someone to alcoholism, liver failure works so much faster than anyone expects. Things can seem OK one day and then within days they're gone. Seeing what it does is why I'm teetotal.
|
| |
Let's also be clear about how much this man was most likely drinking. I can only imagine it was hard liquor nightly. That is not sustainable and sad to hear this.
Alcohol is so fucking ingrained in our society.
|
| |
They told me they were moving my mom to hospice and she died that night. Shit is crazy fast
|
| |
What's also scary is that liver cirrhosis is so unpredictable; it can happen as late as someone's 80s or as early as their 20s. I was reading the comments section of Joey Fatone's tribute post to Steve, and one commenter's daughter died from drinking-related cirrhosis at only 22 years old. That's absolutely insane
I feel like there's this notion that we're invincible or won't have these things happen to us at a younger age, but in reality, it can happen at any time
|
| |
Some....
|
| |
^ BODY
|
| |
Damn thats a bummer
|
| |
Robert, much love dude. I never knew this. It's a fucked up thing
|
| |
Even though they were a meme band they seem to have embraced it. Didn't make sense not to live for fun, after all.
RIP
|
| |
He had lost a baby to cancer at 6 months, I can’t imagine how people don’t fall into addiction after something like that, RIP.
|
| |
Big RIP
Their early work was super solid
|
| |
r.i.p
|
| |
Everyone's gonna be spamming their big hits so I just want to add that I've always really liked "who's there" and "radio" off Astro Lounge
RIP
|
| |
Liver failure is also a side effect of... of... of... ? Nothing.
|
| |
oh yeah its not because he was an alcoholic its because he took a vaccine
dumbass
|
| |
https://www.tmz.com/2020/05/08/smash-mouth-singer-steve-harwell-ex-fiancee-gets-restraining-order/
"Esther Campbell filed new docs asking a judge to keep Harwell the hell away from her, after a series of alleged incidents she's blaming on his battle with substance abuse.
Esther claims Steve did a stint in rehab and seemed to be improving until early this year. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, she claims he fell off the wagon and had to detox in February, but when he got out of treatment ... Steve allegedly stole her phone and destroyed it."
yeah it was absolutely because of the vaccine 🙄
|
| |
i was just curious so i looked up some stats
"In this sense, the Journal of Hepatology has published a study that included 470,274 people who had a healthy liver before receiving the first dose of the COVID vaccine (RNA and adenovirus vaccines were used). As a control group, 21,784 people who did not have liver disease and who received the influenza vaccine were studied.
The authors found that among the 470,274 individuals who received the COVID vaccine, 177 (0.038%) developed liver disease. No differences were found between the frequency of liver damage induced by RNA or adenovirus vaccines (0.038% vs 0.024%). In the control group vaccinated with influenza, the frequency of appearance of liver damage was higher (0.069%)."
damn 0.038%-0.069%...sounds dangerous...
|
| |
also bold to assume he got the vaccine at all, band literally said fuck it to the lockdown rules and played a gig in august 2020
|
| |
lmao i completely forgot about that yea theres no way he was vaxed
anyway RIP
|
| |
RIP
|

If you were born between 1987 and 1993, there is a 90% chance that hearing "All Star" was a formative musical experience for you. R.I.P.
|
| |
Nearly my entire immediate family on both sides battles alcoholism and I lost one of my grandmothers to it when she was only 56. A lot of people don't realize how serious of a disease it is and one of the worst parts of it is how helpless you feel because you can only do so much for an addict. The constant relapses and the fear that you're going to lose them is a lot.
My mom had to miss my wedding earlier this year because she relapsed and had to go back to rehab two days prior and the sad part is I kind of expected it to happen.
|
| |
Band were a lot better than people gave them credit for, those first 2 albums are incredibly solid (I also have a massive soft spot for Hang On from the Cat in the Hat soundtrack).
RIP Steve, there'll never be another frontman like you
|
| |
"He had lost a baby to cancer at 6 months, I can’t imagine how people don’t fall into addiction after something like that, RIP."
This right here.
I'd kill myself if I lost my daughter. I refuse to live with that unbearable grief. Literally the only thing that would give me pause is the thought of what she'd think of me for doing it.
|
| |
Why cant we be friends?
RIP Steve.
|
| |
For what the meme status was that they had as a band, they legitimately had some good tunes and Steve seemed like a super positive, cool fella. RIP hard
|
| |
Damn, that sucks. That was my favorite band when I was a kid.
|
| |
wasnt this mfer doin nazi salutes and telling people to take masks off during covid
|
| |
"If you were born between 1987 and 1993, there is a 90% chance that hearing "All Star" was a formative musical experience for you. R.I.P."
I was born in 1994 and All Star was still an incredibly important piece of my childhood. I remember hearing it on the radio all the time back then, and of course the Shrek soundtrack helped
But if I'm being honest, I have even fonder memories of the I'm a Believer cover
|
| |
not gonna act like I ever loved the song or anything but literally everyone knows that song. Born in ‘97 and I feel like I’ve heard it a million times.
I know the lyrics better than songs I actually love. In a way I admire how impressive it is that the song was so huge.
|
| |
Sad news. RIP :[
All Star will live forever
|
| |
he'll be met with a bread shower in heaven RIP

Leave it to Snake to be the most insensitive one here
edit: 666 comments huehuehuehuehue
|
| |
i don't think snake was being insensitive, they were literally just responding to a guy who implied this guy was killed by covid vaccine injury
|
| |
“Leave it to Snake to be the most insensitive one here“
you are the dumbest motherfucker on this site holy shit
|
| |
lmao
|
| |
I'll take dumb me over smart you 7 days a week and twice on Sunday, babydoll :*

Core childhood memory

Thank you Steve.
|
| |
@Panzerchrist yeah that did happen at the end when he'd already fallen DEEP into alcohol abuse. Better to remember him for what he contributed for most of his life rather than the decline at the end.

I guess you could say the years stopped coming 😬
|
| |
hey did you see the part where everyone already said that?
|
| |
You think I got time to read all the comments like you dork
|
| |
@KevinKC The covid vaccine rarely ever causes liver failure. Heart disease? Sure, there are irrefutable evidence when it comes to myocarditis and the jab, but not every disease in linked with the vax, man.
|
| |
"You think I got time to read all the comments like you dork "
I just genuinely can't believe you sat there typing that thinking you were gonna be the first one to land it
|
| |
KEK, I can't believe people are arguing about vaccines in a thread of a deceased singer for a washed-up band.
