BMTH goes pop punk

2023-05-05 by Simon K. STAFF | 48 Comments

Capricious Sheffield-quintet Bring Me the Horizon have dropped a new track and music video, titled "Lost". In an attempt to seemingly go through every style of music imaginable like a bucket list, and derive that flavour with a BMTH filter over it, the band have set their crosshairs on emo and pop punk.

Sputnikmusic looks forward to their cumbia rendition next.

I hope they just go full on hyper pop rock or something. Die4U and this is pretty sick, Strangers was kinda boring

Honestly these guys were my guilty pleasure when they were doing the deathcore/ metalcore thing and I didn't really like much of their material post-sempiternal, but I enjoyed PH and I fw this. Maybe I'm getting old

They're intending the next record to be heavily influenced by 2000's emo, rock records, and so far everything seems on point, probably going to be quite diverse. Video's got some it never ends vibes, just a lot polished.

I'm not a massive pop punk fan or whatever this qualifies as, but it's executed quite well. Not going to be my favourite tho

Best out of the 3. Die 4 U sucked balls, Strangers was just kinda boring. This kinda bops.

Not feeling this one as much as the other two singles, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. DiE4U is still the best of the bunch.

Hilariously awful. Like comedy level. But they were always awful so nothing new I guess?

It's almost like they felt inspired by MGK or something

"It's almost like they felt inspired by MGK or something"

and 100 Gecs? and Boys like Girls and MCR? Song makes me feel all kinds of things and havn't fully sorted out how I should be feeling about it. My gut says to burn it, but there's some cool nostalgia feeling that is undeniable.

I mean yeah, it's the best of the last three singles but it's also possible for ALL THREE to be bad...which they kinda are.

Not feeling any of this newer stuff. They went from Post Human which had the most undeniably catchy songs they've ever written to TikTok pop punk for zoomers

honestly, i expected this to be next-level awful but MGK x hyperpop leftovers bmth is just par for the course given their last 10 yrs of output and i fail to see a meaningful difference in quality

I feel like I haven’t seen you post eons Trebor. That album does have a lot of great scene kid bops on it though. I remember listening to I Don’t Feel Very Receptive Today and I’m Content With Losing on repeat with my damn iPod.

Holy fuck they've gone emo with copying MCR sounds too. This is very bad...should've stayed with their electronic alternative metalcore style. Suits them better.
