Lorna Shore vs SotS in ultra breakdowns and gutteral armpit farts, who wins?
| | | ok "guttural armpit farts" got me lol
| | | decent song, saw them on the Garza podcast the other day
| | | I tried to get into them but they're incredibly generic. I mean what do they have going for them that sets them apart from the rest?
There are other generic deathcore bands that I would actually prefer over them like Spite, Hollow Prophet, Tracheotomy, The Wandering, Tactosa and so on. There's a youtube channel called "slam worldwide" and I feel like every song/ep/album they upload is equal if not better than what Signs of the Swarm have produced. Genuinely don't understand the big appeal of this band, but they must be doing something right since they get millions of views on youtube.
If I wanted equally if not heavier deathcore bands with an original sound I would just listen to Lorna Shore, Vulvodynia, Shadow of Intent, Paleface Swiss, Orbit Culture and Worm Shepherd.

Love the Garza Podcast. Seems to be a cool dude and obviously has great connections. I think he only started out this year, but he already had tons of extreme metal bands on his podcast by now. I prefer the lengthy podcast format over the short band interviews we usually get from other channels.
| | | @viraemias the Vital Deprivation album is pretty good, it has some sick inhales
| | | "I mean what do they have going for them that sets them apart from the rest?"
i feel like their most recent album was pretty cool and unique, - i felt like that album set them apart. but maybe it's personal bias because i started with the likes of suicide silence and whitechapel - and those bands defined "deathcore" for me.
so more recent "breakouts" like lorna shore and signs of the swarm seem like positive evolutions of the genre. but maybe that's just my lack of exposure. for instance, i'm not really a huge fan of some of the bands you listed like paleface swiss, shadow, hollow prophets - but i like disembodied tyrant, worm shepherd, and spite.
conversely, i'm not a huge fan of signs on anything before Absolvere (listened to Vital today and just couldn't get into it as much). i feel like Absolvere is pushing the sound, but the most recent singles (unbridled and this one above) don't have that same feel.

Same! I've checked out so many new bands because of that pod
| | | these guys are awful people. there have been multiple sexual predators in the band and as I understand it, they have made a conscious decision to not kick people out until their actions became public knowledge. The band was messaged that one of their members had sexually assaulted someone and they responded that they knew which member had done it, and they took months to kick him out and still did photo shoots with him before kicking him out. I loved the Disfigurement of Existence album, but people should really not be supporting them. Just a whole group of scumbags.
