thats certainly an August Burns Red track

[2]
also Backburner > Backfire
| |
this shit is Backwash
| |
decent I guess
| |
It’s really crazy these guys have essentially released 10 of the same album with minimal experimentation and have been successful
| |
yeah and people fucking love it
| |
@botb you just described every shitty 2000s metalcore band that are still making music, and the ones who do “experiment” usually start sounding far worse
| |
Weird track in that some parts sound straight up ripped from their old tracks and others actually sound new and awesome. Loved the solo in the middle though and it’s wild they all swapped instruments.
Def preferred Ancestry and this is super safe, but I’m expecting some new ideas to show up on this one
| |
'It’s really crazy these guys have essentially released 10 of the same album with minimal experimentation and have been successful'
There's a crowd of people out there that don't like change, and just want consistency. I'm guilty of it with Breaking Benjamin, although I generally prefer some progression with each release.
| |
Ancestry showed promise, this one sounds more like Guardians again... idk how to feel about it
| |
I listen to ABR entirely for the purpose of listening to Matt Greiner at this point. Otherwise track was an ABR track.
| |
Like, don’t get me wrong, they’re good at what they do, but I’d say Constellations showed the most “experimental” promise and that was what… 7 albums ago at this point? Wild
| |
Rescue & Restore had the most well executed experimentation they did imo
| |
this is certainly one of the august burns red songs of all time
| |
Begging these guys to work with new producers my god.
| |
They need to make more Christmas songs.
| |
they should try experimentation like a collab effort with sunn0)))
| |
are these recycled pantera lyrics
| |
"Like, don’t get me wrong, they’re good at what they do, but I’d say Constellations showed the most “experimental” promise and that was what… 7 albums ago at this point? Wild"
They still haven't matched the Constellations high for me. Really talented guys just wish they'd branch out more
| |
More Christmas songs (2)
| |
They still haven’t matched the Thrill Seeker high for me

sounds like 2010 metalcore alright. I really enjoy Constellations and Rescue and Restore, but haven't been able to get in to anything new.
| |
Not terrible. First Riff is pretty damn groovy
Unfortunately their albums are nearly impossible for me to get through.
| |
Found in far away places might be my favorite album by them but I took a 6 year break after Constellations so I wasn't burned out yet from their sound. I do feel they need to shake things up a little now
| |
Sounds a little more interesting than the usual snorefest
| |
More Christmas songs [3]

Rescue & Restore Was the last album from then I really enjoyed but when I heard Ancestry I was excited cause it sounded fresh. This is kinda boring again.
| |
One step forward one step back.
| |
Yeah thrill seeker was unreal for its time, still back that album
| |
first single was definitely better, but who knows maybe in the context of the album this will grow on me. FIFAP was the last album i loved from ABR, so hoping for a return to form in this one
| |
More Christmas songs [4]
| |
I wish they would just record a black metal album. The little bits that resemble black metal are the only redeemable parts
| |
“Yeah thrill seeker was unreal for its time”
I saw them live when they were touring for thrill seeker. That was my introduction. I was obsessed for a solid like eight years.
| |
Everytime I listen to a new ABR song I hope it reaches the greatness of some Thrill Seeker tracks, or even Messengers, but it doesn't.
This track was ok, but would be one of the weakest on thoses albums.
| |
I fully expected to be disappointed with this song due to the samey nature of the last several records.
But man, something about the grooves & riffs in this one hit just right. Way better than the last single
| |
Also Constellations > Rescue and Restore > everything else by them including Messengers
| |
^^^This guy gets it
| |
Haven’t listened to this band since rescue, imagine they’ve been playing the same song for 10 years though
| |
Rescue > constellations and it’s not even close
| |
Messengers goes too hard to just throw it behind a > like that
| |
Rescue < constellations [2]
| |
Decent track tbh, but the breakdowns are so boring
| |
@emim don’t you dare out-math me
| |
damn not bad, great vocal range of screams, many banger riffs, drumming solid as always
| |
I don't wanna be disrespectful but it's one of those bands that I've known since forever and always found extremely boring and still do. Wish they would experiment more and create a more unique sound
