Since we successfully bullied In Flames into riffing again we now need to refocus our efforts and bully Anders into ditching the clean vocals
| |
That will never happen. Boring song.
| |
Not bad, lyrics are shit but overall instrumentation is solid. that opening riff in particular actually kinda slaps
| |
spoiler: very bad!
| |
That's surprising, I really thought this was your favorite band hyperion
| |
Decent except for that chorus. But that chorus kinda ruins the whole song for me
| |
In Flames in 2023 lol
| |
"It's only down from here"
Well gg π we bullied as hard as we could RIP m/
| |
I'm digging this one. The bridge in particular is really fun.
| |
holy fucking shit that intro
| |
its so heavy letsgo
droppin bombs into the bowl
heavy logs
| |
chris on solo duty, this is new POOOOOG
| |
FACT: there is no overt quality difference between old in flames and nΓΌ in flames
| |
lmao
| |
Sounds like Killswitch Engage. Intro was good though. For those thinking/wishing theyd lose the cleans, not a chance. These guys are and have been chasing commercial success.
| |
Poo
| |
Chorus is absolute crap, everything rest is decent I guess
| |
Lol singing started at the exact moment I thought "is this gonna be where they shoehorn in a lame radio rock chorus like they always do"
Never change Anders
| |
π
| |
Why is he always wearing a hat now? lol
| |
sucks
| |
leaving this news thread disappointed
| |
"Why is he always wearing a hat now? lol"
He thinks he's become a rapper now for some reason
| |
Is this the timeline where In Flames goes nu metal
| |
Nah that was 20 years ago
| |
Anders looking like the swedish Kyle Kinane lately
| |
"These guys are and have been chasing commercial success."
What's funny is that they could ditch the clean vocals completely and I really don't think it would impact their commercial success at all
| |
Commercial intentions and quality aside, I'm not entirely sure why IF would ditch clean vocals when they're becoming more and more prominent among the legacy acts in the genre. DT's using them more than ever before, Soilwork increasingly so, etc.
| |
The difference is that DT and Soilwork clean vocals sound way better lol. I don't even like soilwork's clean vocals but they generally sound much more natural. They also feel like they fit the song more and werent shoehorned in. This sounds like anders was like "we need to have a clean vocal part here just because we need clean vocals in the song"
| |
"Why is he always wearing a hat now? lol"
when a man of that age starts mysteriously wearing hats its always hair loss lmao
| |
Okay song. Album is probably gonna be a very hard 3.5.
| |
"Why is he always wearing a hat now? lol"
because all the American mainstream metalcore bands are doing it now I guess
| |
that was the worst chorus I've heard in a long time
| |
Agreed eakflanderyof problem isn't clean vocals it's lazily importing stock Hawthorne Heights wannabe melodies into songs that don't call for it and relying on a frontman whose cleans have never been anything to write home about even on their good albums
| |
I like how the drummer has two bass drums set up but is only using one of them. 1:40 in the video.
| |
Sounds like log
| |
"I like how the drummer has two bass drums set up but is only using one of them. 1:40 in the video."
I've seen so many bands do that live but it's really funny they didn't even do two pedals for the sake of the video lol. I think it's so dumb that people still think two kick drums looks better though. I feel like that was cool in the 70s and 80s
| |
2 kick drums look objectively cooler, booba are great
| |
Yeah, bass drums really reminds me of boobs... I always feel very uncomfortable when drummers only have one...
| |
I can't bring myself to be excited about anything these guys do anymore. That said this seems a lot better than anything I remember hearing from their past few albums. It sounds like it could have come right off Come Clarity which IS an improvement.
| |
ok i don't really like this one.
| |
is good, I like
| |
bog fucking standard
| |
praising this further validates how low the bar actually is. Chris Brodrick is also way too good for this and his shoehorned shredfest can't make this good
| |
I actually think this song is pretty fun. Singles have been a massive step up compared to the last decade or so of their output. I don't really get the hate. Melo-death is a pretty cheesy and braindead genre that I love. Obviously In Flames are not capable of reaching the heights that they did 25 years ago, but this is about as good as you can expect tbh
| |
just stop expecting things and treat artists like normal humans and not content creation machines
| |
Chris Broderick being in In Flames and Jeff Loomis being in Arch Enemy is a crime.
| |
I like it haha. Not making my head explode in joy but it's the best shit I've heard in years from them. Definitely sounds like Come Clarity era In Flames
| |
Scrub comments itt
| |
Horrible song
| |
They can go through the motions of a return to their roots but there's no riffs in these new songs. It's not horrible, but it just sounds like what Dark Tranquillity is doing but more tired and with a worse vocalist.
| |
idk i hear a few nice riffs right here
| |
"Definitely sounds like Come Clarity era In Flames" Come Clarity sweetie I'm soooooo sorry
| |
I've seen multiple people say this sounds like come clarity and I'm definitely not hearing it lol
| |
The only thing this has in common with Come Clarity is this will also probably be considered a top 5 In Flames album.
| |
Personally Come Clarity is my number 1. I see this being their potentially 5th best album.
| |
To me, the album sounds like it could have been released between Clayman and Reroute. It's the first In Flames album I've really liked since Reroute to Remain, for sure.
| |
I think the first few singles had a little clayman vibe but these last two sound more like the last couple albums.
"Personally Come Clarity is my number 1. I see this being their potentially 5th best album."
Come clarity is definitely my favorite outside of that 4 album run from TJR to clayman. Based on the singles so far, I'm feeling like this one is only gonna place above the last album, battles, and siren charms. Maybe above SoaPF too
| |
this is ~ok~ compared to atrocities like this is our house or the truth but even cc's weakest song (scream) is still muchhhhhhh better and more interesting than this imo
| |
leeches is the weakest cc song
| |

| |
There is no weak Come Clarity song.
| |
SPIT ME OUT
IM GLAD I DONT BELONG
Also the comments from people about "chasing money with choruses" are hilarious. Get out of the matrix bra
| |
Come Clarity is their 3rd best after TJR and Colony
| |
the balance feels all wrong, everything feels cut and nothing feels heavy aside from when the solo's on. or is it just me? kinda trying to take metal seriously again
| |
No Jesper no party
| |
"Also the comments from people about "chasing money with choruses" are hilarious. Get out of the matrix bra"
fuckin tru
| |
"kinda trying to take metal seriously again"
clown world moment
| |
dog world moment
| |
I dig it! Not amazing by any means but considering how bad this band has been over the years, this is miles above what most material they put has been lately. Albums shaping up to be pretty decent actually.
| |
I wish I could just like some comments but that would ruin the website. Good In Flames is better than nothing. It's good, not great. No big words. It's just ok by their standards.
| |
mind pressed like on the comment above
| |
The refrain is really weak on this one. Sounds like a 'Battles' refrain, which immediately gives me PTSD.
| |
This comment section does not pass the vibe check. While this ain't Colony or Jester's Race it's still good.
