As a longtime fan of P86 I wasn't expecting much after the last few albums, but holy shit this blew me away

Holy shit, that kicked a lot more ass than I expected. Always loved this band and thought they were criminally overlooked but was finding it hard to get excited about this final project of theirs due to it seeming a bit over-the-top, but now I'm ready for this to drop. Who knew Schwab could do harsh vocals like that?
By the way, it's only Part 1 that drops Feb 15, Part 2 should be coming probably around summer or something

I saw this band at a christian music festival in like 2006 and never gave them a second thought but this is sick as fuck

Drawing Black Lines is one of my all time favorite albums and the OG lineup is still my favorite. I actually enjoyed the last two releases, especially after the disappointing 3 previous starting with the polarizing Rival Factions. Song is good though if a bit formulaic.

Forgot to mention that it's just Part 1 in Feb - good catch.
I felt the same way about the overwrought final album crowdfund stuff and was super skeptical until this dropped. I've always loved Schwab's shout-y vocals, but my god now with this type of harsh vocals in the mix he sounds ferocious. I know people's opinion on their post-And the Rest Will Follow work varies a lot, but I feel like this is a huge improvement over the slightly boring middle-of-the-road sound they've been stuck on for a while IMO. Heavier fits them best (see: Drawing Black Lines)

one of my favorite post hardcore bands, for their swan song, has become yet another derivative djent band with plodding breakdowns and formulaic songwriting
a pity, too, because Schwab's growls are surprisingly great
|
| |
couldn't disagree more with that take but to each his own. glad you dig his growls though, they rule
|
| |
Schwab sounds great dang
|
| |
these guys should tour with a Carnivore cover band as their opener. Would be a killer show
|
| |
They should tour with a project 86 cover band. Double down on those bitches

No doubt. Band has done some great things, but this just kinda blows. Weirdly generic mixed with like those shitty parts of early records that were trying to be hard but just weren't. Like first half of set me up or something, before it drops and rips for forty-five seconds. Maybe some of album will be good.

Drawing Black Lines and Songs to Burn Bridges By were pretty formative for me

Drawing Black Lines was so crucial in getting me in to heavy music as a kid. I wore that album out so hard circa 7th grade. Still holds up pretty well. Stein’s theme goes hard in the paint.

Just listened to some of their stuff and damn this is good, not just for a Christian band, but actually good. Thank you for this!

I joined the party late but STBYBB is still a hard 5 for me to this day

This sounds great!

I like the new song a lot but agree about those lyrics lol
It really is shaping to be a badass album though
