Earthside drop "We Who Lament" single 2022-11-03 by Toondude | 13 Comments | Connecticut-based progressive rock group Earthside have officially released a new song, entitled "We Who Lament". The song features Keturah Johnson of The Heavy Medicine Band, making it the first song to feature a vocalist since their debut album A Dream in Static in 2015.
There is still no new word of a new album as of yet.

Both new singles have been insanely good. Really hyped for this record.
| | | Yeah, I'm really enjoying the singles. Should be a great record.
| | | hype
| | | amazing song as per usual. Seems these guys can do no wrong (except take very long releasing new music)
| | | Earthside once again proving they are in the absolute elite of prog bands. Keturah's voice is a perfect fit for this song
| | | Gorgeous
| | | Fuck this is good. How do they pick these guest vocalists? The bass and drums at the end of this track are gargantuan
| | | That mix, I came.
| | | These guys are awesome, hopefully we get details on a new album soon, especially since they're starting a tour next week (can't wait to go to the show!).

they posted on facebook asking people for suggestions a while ago. when they released this they said they took those suggestions and got a lot of them.
I suggested Jonas Renkse and I'm hoping he's one of the ones they got.
| | | Thank y'all for the loving words! We ourselves still hold SputnikMusic as the gold standard of high taste, so it feels extra fulfilling when we're received warmly and positively here.
And yes, as heck said, I made a post on my Facebook profile (I'm on there as Jamie Earthside and people are welcome to add me if you wanna be pals!) and it got WAY more comments than I ever could have bargained for, but over the following 6 months, I proceeded to check out a handful each day until I got through them all! Keturah was suggested to me several months later via DM by someone who'd just discovered Keturah herself and had remembered seeing my post. We're very grateful that this person had the thought to message us, as Keturah is now honestly among my favorite vocalists in the world. For me she evokes Jeff Buckley with more fire and grit with little sprinkles of Janis Joplin, Dolores O'Riordan, and 90s Björk. She's both remarkably vulnerable/ethereal and an absolute firebreather/powerhouse.
As for Jonas Renkse, believe or not heck, we **may** have heard of him before your suggestion. 😉 He is not slated to be on our new record, as we didn't have a song that really fit him, we felt. But during the 'A Dream In Static' era there was a song that almost worked out for him to do but then fell through. We felt that song was perfectly tailored to him, so we didn't end up releasing that track, so PERHAPS some day we'll hit him up again and see if he wants to do it, and we'll release it 10 years after the fact. ;)

| | | Beauty of a track, really
The first one doesn't feel overlong for me anymore. Hype!
