I really like them and this release. 💛 They're also one of the bands that can remind me of this website. I'm pretty sure I discovered them via sput 12 years ago.

Hey dudes are you ready to
|
| |
Band always blew
|
| |
Haven't noticed any major changes in the re-recording, maybe still will listen to the original. as long as band is having their fun it is fine. "Go Down In History" is still one of my summer jams, EP version!!!
|
| |
Wasting time sounds terrible. The others don’t seem to be changed much to me
|
| |
I agree, Wasting Time didn't have any major change. But What The Hell Is A Gigawatt gave me a good stinkface.
|
| |
One of my all time favorite records, glad to see it re-recorded!
|
| |
The production on the original is already perfect, this is stupid. Should have Rise or Die Trying
|
| |
I tried to get really into this album/band in high school but they never stuck with me as much as I listened to it while driving my shitty car. That said, I can't imagine this needed a re-recording. It always sounded perfect the way it was.
|
| |
considering these guys have currently been touring playing this album front to back, can't say a re-record is outrageous. still, should have been Rise or Die Trying
edit: admittedly had a shit-eating grin listening to Gigawatt. they brink Pepito back?
|
| |
Should have been Rise or Die Trying [2], would've been stoked for that. Love this album but a re-record feels very unnecessary.
|
| |
Might be true, but Cavalier definitely needed a spotlight
|
| |
From their posts, it sounds like they didn't own the masters or UMG wasn't cooperating with a repress so they pulled a Taylor swift and re-recorded to have control of the masters again, which is a decision I'll almost always respect
Great album, looking forward to hearing the entire thing

Fuck it. Excuse to jam the whole thing again for the first time (sort of).
|
| |
This band is nul
|
| |
The production and performances are even better on this re-recording. Why complain? This is free, it doesn't ruin your enjoyment of the original, and the band did't have to do anything... Some people find the stupidest shit to bitch about.

Just heard the wasting time version and they took out all the punch. ALL OF IT. So go fuck yourself buddy. Should have been RODT and you know it.
|
| |
I disagree. I will concede that production to some extent, is subjective. Again, you can still go listen to the originals, so you are just being a cry baby. Who even said RODT was on the table? What are you on about?
|
| |
Do you really lack the self awareness to see that you are in fact being the infantile one here lmao… why are you getting so worked up, are you in the band or something?
|
| |
I think the reason for a re-recording is that it allows pure noise to sell it on Vinyl??
|
| |
They re-released it wanting people to listen I’m sure. And like it has been said Wasting Time sounds horrible.
I realize there are some rights potentially at play here, but if you’re gonna re-record something at least make it better
|
| |
This is the only album of theirs I even like but the re-recorded versions I’ve heard so far seem like diluted versions of the originals. Something is missing but I can’t put my finger on what.
|
| |
I felt like the wasting time one lacked punch and also the synth stuff was way too prominent
|

For fans of: compression

"The production on the original is already perfect, this is stupid. Should have Rise or Die Trying"
I have the 10 year anniversary version on apple music, its defo a remaster but it sounds really good and i dont think a full rerecording would do any better unless they are willing to fully rework/modify the songs.
|
| |
I've never been able to figure out what's going on between the rights to the labels, like the record was originally released under Universal and now the band is signed to Pure Noise, and they're headlining a 10 year anniversary tour of the record right now. I intuitively thought it was a re-master too, but it was advertised uniformly as a re-recording.
|
| |
I remember in school these guys and The Wonder Years becoming popular... The Wonder Years are great but I never understood how they compared.
|
| |
@dedex 5/5 incoming
|
| |
I for one found absolutely nothing wrong with the original and jam it regularly.
This may be a fun listen but it just seems totally unnecessary…

“We decided to re record EOTW first and foremost to be as cool as Taylor Swift, but secondly because we wanted to be able to repress the vinyl and offer it to fans that haven’t been able to get it since the record came out." says Alan Day. He continues "It was really interesting to revisit all of the songs down to every detail, getting to kind of relive it in a way. We recorded the drums with Will Putney (who worked on the original EOTW as a engineer), did the rest by ourselves at Dans house, and then had Will work his magic on it and mix and master it. We had just worked with Will for the first time since 2010 on our new album Brain Pain, and figured it would be perfect to work with Will as he knows FYS old and new more than anyone. So give it a listen, come out to the tour, and party like it’s 2010 again.”
