lmao i thought they said this record would be a return to their signature sound or some shit like that
| |
Jesus this band, what a joke
| |
Thought it was Vic Reeves club singing at first.
| |
Well I thought it was bloody lovely
| |
this is great, dark fruits on life support
| |
I love this song with all my heart
| |
Huge John Barry influence
| |
Sticking with the jazzy lounge vibe, huh? Interesting choice
| |
God this has me hyped.
Name another band that has the balls to follow up their most successful mainstream rock album with a spoken word sci fi jazz album and it’s actually good.
| |
Song's a bit uneventful (like a lot of that last album) but I dig the production and Turner seems to be locking down the loungey vocal style. Not bad.
| |
Took a long time for TBHAC to click for me but I’m a big fan of their new sound now
Looking forward to the album after enjoying this appetiser
| |
Y’all talking shit are nuts, this is sexy
| |
yeah ditto on TBHAC, went from loathing it to actually adding it to my vinyl collection, sounds soooooo good

I fucking hate AM for dragging those hipsters into their fanbase. I can't stand them. Go listen to your strokes.
| |
Of course there popularity felt to pieces when they released tranquility base...most of those "fans" were actually faking their interest in the band because of that particular sound and AM were never going to stick to that sound.
| |
Yes this is really great love the vibe, slaps
| |
Absolutely gorgeous track.
| |
It’s ok to be a fan of a band and not like it when they radically switch sounds, it’s doesn’t make people who liked AM and not TBHAC bad people or ‘hipsters’
I’m just glad I love all Arctic Monkeys and right now, having plenty of jaunty indie and radio rock options I’m glad this will be another album in the TBHAC mould because that’s what I want more of in my life
| |
@bloc - your wife or the song?
| |
agreed they shouldn't go back to AM but this is pretty aimless
| |
Some people in here just hate everything for the sake of it lmao
| |
Not for me. I couldn't get into their previous album either unfortunately.
| |
Oh wow I really dig this. The first minute is kinda the best part, but I don't mind the repetition in the rest because the synth line is gold and drums / bass keep it afloat too. Lovely strings also
| |
why does this remind me of prefab sprout lol
| |
Better than his previous effort, but still not for me.

| |
meh. Alex Turner's stint as a lounge singer continues to lose my interest
| |
I kinda loved their last album, but this whole time, I was sure that they would go for another sound on this one. I'm so glad that I was wrong, this song rules lol. They clearly don't care about pleasing a certain demographic lmao.

Enjoyed this, the production is really a nice warm sound. The song itself is a bit standard by definition but has some nice little stop/start patterns throughout
| |
Wait, people think AM was their first rock album? Fuck this and THAF.
| |
It’s weird! I dig it
| |
This shit is so lame, yet people in the Arctic Monkeys world had been so starved for new material they are praising it like it's the second coming or something, it's not. Sounds like a B-side that got dropped off the main tracklisting for "Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino", which, I should note, is an album I eventually had grow on me for it's particular charms...but having been a fan of this band since the days when I was awaiting the release of their first album and sticking through every different change in sound (and genuinely enjoying them, such as the excellent/underrated Humbug album), I certainly wasn't hoping for a rehash of Tranquility Base... again. Cool for them doing what they want to do, which I support fully, but I can also say that it sucks if I want to.
| |
Love this, smooth track.
| |
They can't keep getting away with this
| |
they should change their band name at this point
| |
im warming up to it, but still not too impressed. even TBHC initial singles were more engaging to me
