Woe, Is Me Reunite 2022-08-08 by LeDemonLemon | 28 Comments |
Metalcore band Woe, Is Me have announced that they are reuniting.
A video was posted to their Instagram page on Tuesday, July 26, hinting at future activities as well as revealing the reunion lineup. The members tagged in that post are clean vocalist Hance Alligood, unclean vocalist Michael Bohn, guitarists Kevin Hanson and Andrew Paiano, bassist Cory Ferris and his brother Ben Ferris (keyboards/unclean vocals), and drummer/programmer Austin Thornton. On Friday, July 29, the band officially announced their reunion on Twitter, with the first show to be held in Dallas, Texas, on October 29.
Unclean vocalist Michael Bohn has previously gone on record stating that he would not be a part of a reunion under any circumstances. He posted the following to his Twitter account on March 20, 2019: "I will not be doing any sort of reunion at all! I'm not gonna get people's hopes up and fill them with mis leading info! You couldn't pay me to do a woe is me reunion and that's that!"
The band’s most recent studio album, Genesi[s], was critically panned upon its release in November of 2012. Woe, Is Me disbanded less than a year afterwards.

I saw this a couple days in Twitter and am pretty hype. These guys can write good songs, and this lineup has some of their better members.

It's cool that the band is reuniting and whatnot I guess; regarding possible new material, I'm not quite as thrilled. "Number[s]" really worked at the time for what it was: it clocked in in about 30 minutes, utilized excessive breakdowns (which were really in at the time), had cool mixing with almost spastic sounds serving as interludes, and a plethora of good musicianship ranging from the fill-heavy drums, the tapping lead guitars, the good synths blend, and the dual vocal performances. This lineup doesn't feature the guitarist who wrote the lead-lines in the album, and unless one of the other players can fill the void or improve on it, I'm not really excited for new music.

They're missing the guy that played the leads on Number[s], but I think this could still be better than Genesis and American Dream
|
| |
I remember back in the day they led the way for males to wear v neck. lol
|
| |
I don't know if they were the first band in metalcore back then to use the RnB-sounded clean. there were really many imitations of them after the release of Numbers.
|
| |
I think they were one of the first to apply it to metalcore, there were a couple post-hardcore bands that had done it already
|
| |
^good to know. thanks spirit
|
| |
It takes 7 members to make their brand of metalcore
|

lotta shade thrown in the description. people change, lol.
this is actually pretty cool. obviously i prefer tyler's voice a la the numbers songs, but who was the lead guitarist for that record? the leads are what really get me on those tracks
|
| |
poop, is the band has returned
|
| |
cool news, thanks for sharing Lemon. looking forward to their first new material.

I'll never forget stumbling into their set randomly for a couple songs at 2010 Warped Tour and seeing them embody every possible scene-core cliche at the time lol

The reunion nobody asked for
|
| |
Number[s] was a blast. Not overly hyped about this tho
|
| |
"The reunion nobody asked for"
this is simply untrue lol
|
| |
It should be. Band has put out some of the most over the top garbage i've ever heard.

metalcore/post-hardcore is such a creatively bankrupt genre that even shitty bands are getting reunions

Zzzzzzzzzz

I'm mostly looking forward to hearing Hance and Michael together on one record since they're both great. First album was fun, second one was pretty bad though lol.
|
| |
The second one had pretty nice singing parts. Everything else was dreadful though especially the lyrics.

"I'm mostly looking forward to hearing Hance and Michael together on one record since they're both great"
They did the bonus songs on Number[s] Deluxe Edition together.
|
| |
I’m mostly looking forward to pretending this never happened

Genesi[s] is one of the worst albums ever recorded. It's not like Number[s] or American Dream were that much better.
|
| |
Numbers was leagues more artistically inclined than Genesis or the AD EP. those were just chug core.
numbers had lead guitars and flowed as a whole, very dream like.

You've too many bad takes that this really doesn't even scratch the surface tbh but you are wrong !
