Listening to these guys is like wrapping myself up in a warm blanket in the winter. Single is divine.

No thank you
| |
OK goodbye!
| |
I’ve jammed Foiled a good bit but need to check more from them
| |
Their last album was so good my man
| |
Band still has it
| |
Big ups big ups
| |
I haven't really kept up with the bands more recent work. A nice song tho
| |
Their 2020 record is actually amazing. It's a perfect encapsulation of their stylistic shift.
| |
They have some cool albums
song's nice
| |
Seeing them open for Goo Goo Dolls in September with new gf and her son, pretty hyped.
| |
I saw them live last year and it was a treat, hope to see them again.
| |
The Answers and Consent To Treatment are both amazing, about time I moved further into their catalog.
| |
They've changed a lot since then, but not to their detriment. Only album I'd skip is Any Man in America. Sput loves it for some reason but it's a total dud to me, and I love basically everything Justin has done.
| |
This song does have a nice comforting feeling. I got into them around when 'Foiled' came out and worked backwards through most of their catalog then. I never really got around to listening to any of their stuff after. I remember asking for recommendations in a Discord from a guy I used to talk to, but even still just lazily never got around to it.
| |
They couldn't wait until October to announce?
| |
There it is.
Thread's closed, we made the funny.
| |
Been meaning to check these guys for what seems like forever.
| |
I had no idea Sput had interest in Blue October
Welcome to the party my friends :^)
| |
Hope to be there in October! One of my favorite months. I just love autumn. I'll check out their 2020 album sometime soon. Curious about their newer sound I guess by this point.
| |
If you got into them during their Foiled days, I reckon you'll be right at home.
| |
Band is great honestly. I need to get back into them, it's been quite a while.
| |
Unfortunately they've been a one-hit wonder, they deserve so much more than that.
| |
Their production is always so thicc
| |
So I played 'This is What I Live For.' Nearing the end of the album and I have to go out for a bit. So I just decided to throw some thoughts here quickly about it and the band. The album generally seems to have a consistent sound throughout it. So it does make for an easy listen. It can be jarring, I'd like to hear some more variety in styles. As for them being a one hit wonder. Since 'Foiled' to be fair I have heard Blue October singles in various places out in the wild. I heard "Oh My My" somewhere and I remember hearing "I Hope You're Happy" before too (a single from the previous album). Justin has such a distinguishable voice so even I can be like hey that's a Blue October song even though I never heard the song before. They carved out a nice fanbase and place in music and likely will never be some mega popular band they seem to be known enough.
"Moving On (So Long)" really was a fun song. The only song so far that I didn't really get into was "Stay With Me" (the most different song on the album hah go figure) The album generally seemed to shift towards more uplifting and hopeful moods though the earlier songs got his frustrations out.
| |
into the ocean is still a banger
| |
My work used to play "Into the Ocean" a long time ago and apparently some customer complained it was too depressing? WHAT?! That is good one. They never played it too often where it got played out either so that was nice.
| |
I think the record is actually pretty varied. The beginning, middle, and end all bring something different to the table, and that's part of what makes me consider it as among their best. If anything, the songs all still sound like Blue October, which is fair since they have an aesthetic for sure.
"Into the Ocean" is one of the best pop songs ever and I'm taking no arguments. As for it being too depressing, well, plenty of pop songs have flirted with dark lyrics. Someone got their knickers in a twist.
| |
I'll play it again MarsKid but it felt compared to 'Foiled' which has wildly different styles the last album had more of a cohesive similar flow to the album. I just played the music video for "Into the Ocean" as I never saw it and wanted to hear the song again and that was a fun video :D Bummer it took me so long to see that one, I saw the "Hate Me" video a lot.
| |
Ah, I see. Yeah, Foiled does a lot more different things. The trade-off is definitely cohesion, and some tracks just don't do as well as others. For a front-to-back experience, This is What I Live For stacks up better.
I also thing the songwriting is stronger overall, and it has some stellar hits to offer. You get angsty stuff, acoustic stuff, atmospheric numbers, and pure pop rockers.
| |
Nice song !! Definitely slaps!!!
| |
Hell yeah my man
| |
There is nothing at all like "X Amount of Words" and "Drill a Wire through my Cheek." The former is a strange-ish electronic dance number while the second is the screamy anger song of the album. I didn't really need the former because that song always did seem out of place, but after all this time I heard it enough I kinda like that song it's so odd and fun.
| |
When I go for live Blue I always go for the more emotional songs, but I was like hey how would X Amount look like.....hey here's one:

From Texas of course :D in 2015.
| |
It's really unlike Blue October haha sounds a bit slower too also the light show.
| |
"X Amount of Words" shouldn't work but because Foiled is a bit of a mess it manages to be great.
| |
When is the new Lumineers record dropping?
| |
