2022-06-29 by Cyan isn't a shade of blue. | 20 Comments
PJ Harvey has just announced that her newest LP is nearly complete and will be out in the summer of 2023.

When discussing the album’s influences she listed: “soundtrack writers” like Jonny Greenwood, Mica Levi, Hildur Guðnadóttir, and Ryuichi Sakamoto, as well as The Smile, Anna von Hausswolff’s All Thoughts Fly, Bob Dylan’s 2020 effort Rough and Rowdy Ways, and Elvis.

This will be her first LP since 2016’s Hope Six Demolition Project.

Based on the original interview with Rolling Stone it’s not clear that those influences she listed influenced this album specifically. To me it sounds like she’s just talking about what she’s been enjoying recently, not direct influences per se.

Johnny you realize I had to give fucking Rolling Stone my ad sense to extract this information, please give me the respect I deserve for that.

I have the greatest respect for you seeing what contemporary publications Rolling Stone and Detective Ars have not, but

if you have so much information

you must now disclose who her *real* influences are!

if this PJ Harvey record has not been directly influenced by Radiohead copycats Jonny Greenwood, The Smile and Ryuichi Sakamoto, I shall simply refuse to enjoy it -_-
