Former Bon Jovi Bassist Dies 2022-06-07 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 5 Comments | The original bassist and founding member of hard rock band Bon Jovi, Alec John Such, has died at the age of 70. Alec left the band in 1994, being replaced by bassist Hugh McDonald. He later rejoined Bon Jovi for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
Jon Bon Jovi made the following statement on his social media:
"We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. … To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him — He was a childhood friend of Tico (Torres) and brought Richie (Sambora) to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today these special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We will miss him dearly."

I always thought of him as sort of the band's dad since he was the oldest of the guys.

And yet, the band's most famous bassline/groove was created by his predecessor/replacement.
That's gotta hurt.
